Why don't askers ever choose a best answer?
Nothing irritates me more than taking the time to help someone out and answer their question only to have them never pick a best answer. Im not saying that my answer is always the best but pick an answer darn it. I think people who don't choose should be penalized 100 points if they don't choose an answer. That's why I do this. A challenge to get my best answer percentage up as high as possible. When 1 out of 10 people only choose a best answer its no fun. Y! Answers should do something about this.

Young people who are just seeking a quick answer to their
homework don't even give it a thought, unfortunately. Of
course,they are costing themselves points, not 100, but 3
each time they let their choice go to voting. However, you
can always vote for your own answer as best, when they
don't pick your well researched answer, if it is really best.
Sometimes, as a questioner, you will allow your question
to sit for 2 or 3 days to see if better responses come in.
If you get busy after those 2 or 3 days and forget to log in to
Yahoo! Answers, then whammo, it is too late to pick that
best answer and it goes to the voters and your three points
head straight down the toilet. I've had this happen, however
of about 25 questions I've ever asked, I think I picked best on 23,
it is not wise for questioners to let their choice go to the voters, as
spammers and poor answerers may vote for themselves too!

Yeah, I even have. If the responder has a physically powerful element and it fairly is obvious that they've completed examine or shown some attempt. The responder ought to be incorrect and that i element that out, yet i'll award suitable answer basically the comparable.

Some users are new and do not even know that they are supposed to choose a best answer. Then there are other users who are only interested in the answer to their question, they are not bothered that someone has taken the trouble to answer their question.

Probably because some of the users on here are new to this site and don't know they have that option or maybe they just forget.

there is one thing you can do.
you can track that question by either starring the question, or adding it to your private watch list.
that way, when its time to vote, you will see 'in voting'.
and just vote for your answer.
it isnt considered cheating, plus you get a point for doing so! :)
lots of ppl tend to answer the question but dont ever think to look back to vote for themselves.
