When Obama is making cuts to the budget why isn't he making cuts to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq?

Surely all the money paid to fund these wars is astronomical. They have not been cut but the community watch programs in your city or town have been. Why is that? Is America's freedom based more on what happens overseas than what is going on right in America?

The President does not know what to do about Iraq nor how to end it and deal with the labor pool of returning soldiers during this economic crisis. In Afghanistan he has been convinced he should stick it out there by everyone in the pentagon community. He expects the Afghan policy to help him be re-elected.

Former President Bush has put Obama in a position thet he is "damned if you do, damned if you dont". If he makes any kind of cuts to the wars in the middle east, there will be a major backlash from the military, GOP, U.S., and his fellow democrat colleauges. The republican party is, unfortunately, on the verge of becoming the stronghold will keep Bush's policies when they have no regard for the lower class, and programs to benefit the lower class and the working poor.

He did end that stupid, unjustifiable war in Iran. There's an agreement in place to get everyone home by the end of the year. No such luck in Afghanistan and I'm not sure why we're still there. The only thing that occurs to me is that the weapons manufacturers have a huge influence in the lobbying arena.

    We should get out.

Abandoning our efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq would make all the money and lives we already spent their worthless. Besides, Obama doesn't want to give the GOP an excuse to criticize him for being weak on the military. The GOP doesn't need any help to find excuses to criticize Obama.
