How to change my computer format?

I have windows vista on my HP comp. Every attachment I send with my emails (ie: word documents) no one can open them.

I have been told it's easy to change a computers format but I don't know how to go about it. If you know where to look and how to do it please reply with, as basic as possible, instructions lol

Much appreciated :)

I don't see any reason why you having windows vista would prevent someone else from opening a file. If your problem is that you have word 7 installed on your computer and that's how you save all your files and someone is trying to open a word file with their older programming it's an simple fix.

    1. Open the File you want to send

    2. Click the windows icon on the top left corner of word

    3. scroll over "save as" (it's located right under save and menu should pop up to the right)

    4. select "word 97-2003 document"

    5. name and save file.

    6. Attach this file to your email instead.

and a little fyi, anyone with word 7 can open this new file so you don't have to send out seperate emails.

It is pretty easy, but you need to know what program the other people are using. Most likely you are using Microsoft Word 2007 and your friends are using Microsoft Word 2003 or lower. While you have a word document open. Click on the 'Office' button at the top left of the screen. Click 'Save As'. Just below the textbox where you name the file, select 'Word 97-2003 Document (*.doc)'.

    Good luck!

Computer format? Do you mean operating system? If you meant operating system, then yes you can change your computer's operating system from vista to another one. You can either pick XP or 7. Anything before XP is too old. All you have to do is purchase a genuine version of the operating system, insert the disc on your computer and follow the instructions. In the end of installation, it'll ask for a product key. Your product key should be located in the disc casing. Hope this helps!

Your question doesn't make sense; there's not enough context to know what you mean by "change a computer's format." Do you mean that you want to change the format of the files you're attaching to your e-mails?

Save your documents in old Word format, not .docx, as older Word versions cannot open this format. You'll have to use "Save as..." From the file menu, a simple save will save in the new format without asking.

    click save as

in the pop up click the drop arrow below where you name the document.

by selecting different things in that drop menu, you are changing the format of the document you are about to save.
