To get a license plate, why do I need to bring...?

...Proof of insurance, a bill of sale, VIN verification, emmissions test results, safety inspection reports, proof of tax obligations, completed title transfers, temporary registration requests...

In fact, why do I need to bring ANYthing!?

We need to make some sort of means of transfering information over great distances without the need for horse and buggy. We could create machines that process information, and then connect those machines, and allow them to transmit the information through electronic signals.

We could call it the "World Wide Net of Interwebs"!

That way I wouldn't have to carry my entire life around with me everywhere, like my ancestors did!

Your "World Wide Net of Interwebs" is a great fantasy idea, but government offices don't integrate fantasy and business. Maybe you can just get the barcode on your wrist or a chip in your forehead and have your digital identity with you just like a puppy from the shelter. I'm liking the ancestral ways more and more every day.
