Which router should I get?
Getting an apartment with 3 other people next semester and I wasn't sure which router to get to make the apartment wireless for the 4 of us...Probably gonna have an Xbox 360 always wired to it and occasionally my laptop with 3 other laptops and a few ipods running wireless off of it...was thinkin netgear but idk which one...apartment is only 1 floor and isn't very big so range shouldn't be a problem especially if the router is in one of the middle bed rooms...

Hey BMW ?
Yea I would totally recommend Netgear. I would also say get a wireless N Router since your going to be having alot of attachted devices connecting wireless to it. So you can update the latest firmware. Click on the router below. It's good for gaming and it fits your needs.

I have used and worked with different kinds of routers and from my experience, a Linksys router would best serve your needs. It's easy to work with and remember, it's a Cisco product. It has a provision for four cable networks and good wireless, affordable also. No offense meant to others but I still stand that Linksys is a better router.

If you can swing the cash, get either one of the new Linksys E3000 or E4200 Simultaneous Dual-Band N Routers. The E3000 averages 300mbps, and the E4200 pushes 450mbps. If you want N speeds for your Xbox and systems that have G adapters, you'll need to get external N adapters for those devices.
The advantage of simultaneous DBN is that you can use both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz networks independently of each other. For example, I use my 5ghz network for business and other extremely important data (i.e., game data), and all other low priority stuff (paying bills, etc.) goes over the 2.4ghz band. In your case you could stream your game and Ipod data over the 5ghz network, and the notebooks over the 2.4ghz network (or vice-versa).
If you further setup Quality of Service (QoS) in the Applications & Gaming panel, you can also prioritize the data requests to the Router. As you might suspect, my PS3 and notebook have priority access to my Router over all other requests. If it's your Router, you can prioritize the data however you want.
