To be incurably literal: Lower latitudes tend to be warmer climates - more time on the beach, less time shoveling snow - so people are happier. Sitting through the third blizzard of a winter today; I can see the point.

No its not common but pretty interesting . It means the people at the bottom ( when compared to hollywood) have the best attitudes and the people on top ( hollywood, celebs,etc) have the worst attitudes.
