Should my kids learn skiing or snowboarding?

My daughter is 6 and my son is 4. Next season, my husband and I would like them to learn to either ski or snowboard. They both do gymnastics and I was told that snowboarding would be too hard on their knees. Is that true? Which would you start?

I would start them off with skiing. Typically, skiing is easier to begin with than snowboarding

Ask them what they would like to do.

I've done both, and honestly, when starting out they're about the same when it comes to bodily harm.

When learning how to snowboard, you spend most of the time on your *** rather than your knees, so I think they'll be fine.

Skiing can also lead to injury, especially if a foot doesn't get loose and the leg twists, so I think the two are equally dangerous.

This however, should not prevent them from trying whatever they want to, as long as you're supervising and they don't do anything too crazy, they should be fine. Ask them what they want to do and let them do that.

If it makes any difference, skiing is a lot easier to pick up the first time, but in my opinion snowboarding is more fun.

Most people start out as skiers on the slope especially those at a younger age because it is a lot easier then having both feet strapped into a snowboard.

Ask them what they would like to do and even if they try one thing this season and the other next season. I started skiing at 3 years old and skied for 12 years until i attempted to snowboard and ive never been sking since!

Start them out on the skis and in time if they would like to change over they already posses the basics of the balance needed and the feel of the snow.

    Hope that helps!

I have done both. Have them learn to ski first. Skiing is easier on the first day, but is far more technical after that, and requires a higher level of skill to do well. Any skier can learn to snowboard very quickly, but not the other way around. Eventually they should try both.

Skiing would be easier for them to learn, especially at such a young age. Just ask them which they would prefer and buy them the proper safety equipment, and by that I mean helmet. as for snowboarding being harder on your knees I personally don't believe that's true and have always been told that it was actually skiing that was worse on your knees.

I personally enjoyed Skiing more than I did Snowboarding for many reasons.

Skiing feels more natural and is similar to walking one foot in front of the other.

However I would simply suggest that you let them give both a try and let them determine which they like better or which feels more comfortable for them. After all it will be them learning the sport.

even as i replaced into youthful I discovered to snowboard first and it replaced into really problematical. Then i tried snowboarding and took it up really really. i imagine it partly relies upon on the fellow. snowboarding is unquestionably extra sturdy to start up at, yet once you get going that's a number of of exciting. snowboarding is a lot a lot less stressful to %. up! in case you want to avert a lot of bruising at first then avert snowboarding! notwithstanding, i'd not %. one over the different because of that; both are a number of of exciting.
