I recently became an APFT failure and need to go bscm tothe US to appear in court. how can i defend myself?
I just got done being told I can't go on leave. I recently took a PT test and missed the run for the 1st time ever. I've never been a strong or bad runner but that morning happened to be an unusually freezing morning. I was shocked to hear the time as I ran through.
My wife isn't a US citizen and I have to go back to the US for our interview to get her citizenship. I'm only requesting 5 days (2 of which are spent on a plane). I've been in this unit longer than anyone else in my chain of command, so I really don't serve any purpose other than fixing really really broken equipment. Its uncommon that I'm actually needed day to day,so I figured my chain of command would just send me back. Its not during any training or anything. In the 5 days I asked for, 2 of them are a weekend. Well, apparently I assumed too much (Yes I know what they say about when you assume).
My change. Of command is full of board babies and just the opposite of anyone caring for anyone but themselves. What can I do? I need this leave. Like, thousands of dollars and time gone over this? I really. Need some asistance in this matter. NCOs that think APFT failures should burn in hell need not write back. Thanks.

Why don't you simply ask one of your NCOs to give you another APFT and pass the run this time?
Many units have a policy of no leave for APFT failures becase they know that you are not going to do PT while on leave and will return in even worse physical condition.
And you need to grow up a little and lose the 'babies' and 'only care about themselves' BS. YOU are the person who failed to meet the _minimum_ standaard. None of your NCOs were hanging on to the back of your shirt to slow you down for the APFT. You were the person who knew that he was getting marginal APFT scores but didn't do anything about it.
You need to grow up and man up. You need to recognise that an overseas unit is only allowed to have a certian percentage of people absent at any one time.
Do you want leave at your convenience? Do you want your leadership to think that you deserve to be cut some slack? Then _you_ need to stop whining and start performing.

And what do you expect the fine folks at YA to do for you? Your chain, I mean "change. Of command" as you put it, said No. Someone posted that you should visit the JAG or chaplain. JAG will probably choose not to get involved, since no laws are being broken. The chaplain might be more helpful.
Good luck with the "board babies and just the opposite of anyone caring for anyone but themselves". I'm sure if you make that opinion known, you'll get a lot more response.

Ah for the good old days when the training NCO handed you your pt card , you exchanged it with yor buddy and you filled each others out over a cold beer. No one failed that way.

A month or so ago you were ASKING how to impress a Japanese girl you liked.
Now you want us to believe you care about another non citizen who is in the states?
Seems to me you are the one who only cares about himself.

being flagged for apft failure does not mean you cant take leave. it just means no awards or promoptions can be given.

Try going to JAG (legal) and see what they can do for you. Then try the chaplain, as it is a family matter.
