The Rangers can try to trade for Chris Drury, but there isn't a market for Chris Drury. Drury hasn't been the same player since 2007, when he left the Sabres. He'd make a decent 3rd/4th liner on a more competitive team, but it does seem like he's on the decline. No team would take his $7 million for 1 year. This isn't like Gomez, where he can still put up points and is an average player. Drury isn't worth what he makes. You could have 2 players who would provide more than Drury...for less then what he costs now.

The only real option, is to buy him out or wait one more season.

They can't trade Drury. Why would any team in the league want that huge salary for an oft- injurred player with hugely declining offensive stats?

The Rangers should consider themselves very fortunate that they found somebody to take Gomez's huge contract and declining offensive production.

The Rangers have a lot of money. I suspect that they will bury Drury's contract in the AHL (like Redden) and use that money to pursue Brad Richars this summer or this trade deadline.

Relax New York fans, here is the good news. He only has one more year on that contract. So that means that next year is a contract year. Look for him to score 30-40 goals next year. He is looking for a new contract.

either buy him out or wait till the end of next season because no one wants a $7M cap hit

theres no way any team is stupid enough to pick up that contract. What's he making? Like $6.7 M?

He can't be moved at all he has a no-movement clause.
