Military Road Sign question?
I live and work near a US Military base. Recently they started putting signs up around post that I'm not familiar with. The signs are yellow, round and there are usually two of them one on top of the other. There are pictures of different trucks with numbers under them (not speed limits because the numbers range from 20 to 36 and are both even and odd). Then, below the signs is a square sign with a number that I think means width because there are two arrows pointing either direction wtih a number in the middle such as 18. I think this means 18' wide. What do these signs mean? I'm seeing them mostly around bridges so I wonder if it has to do with the length of the pictured truck and the width of the bridge.

Thos are signs that warn of the weight limits on the bridge. If you look closely at the front of military trucks you will notice a similar placard on them with a number. By comparing the number on the truck placard with the placard for the bridge the driver can tell if it is safe to cross the bridge.

I think your on to it, the size of the truck (width/length) or more likely since it's yellow its a caution to the maximum size the bride can hold or which could drive across it

NATO Standard Bridge markings to show the maximum load weight of the bridge.

its the weight limit allowable for eich type vehicle. usually the pic will show a single axle, dual axle, or tractor trailer in the picture.
