In transportation eng., how do you find the length of a vertical curve if you're given two stations, 100 ft apart, and their elevations and nothing else?

If you're only given the start and end points of the curve and no clue as to the shape of the curve, then you can't calculate anything except the linear distance between start and end which in this case would seem to be √[100² + (eₒ - eₑ)²], where eₒ is start elevation and eₑ end elevation and the 100 ft is assumed to be the horizontal distance between start and end.
