    8c+2p=116

    c+p=22

    8c+2p=116

    -2c-2p=-44

    --------------

    6c=72

    c=12

    There are 12 octopi.

    c+p=22

    12+p=22

    p=10

    there are 10 people.

    If there are 22 people then there are 44 feet. That leaves 72 feet left. Since an octopus has 8 "feet" divide 72 by 8 and get 9 octopi.

    12 octopi, 10 humans

    12x8=96

    10x2=20

    ___

    116 12 represents twelve octopi. multiplied by eight b/c of the tentacles.

    10 " ten humans. " " 2 " " " feet.

    Assuming an octopi has 8 feet to go with his 8 legs, and one head, then O=8f+h, and P=2f+h. We are given that h=22, and f=116. See what you can do with that.
