How good is a 34 on the ACT?

I know a 34 is good for the ACT, but I'm just curious what it means for my sister. My sister got her results back today and ended up getting a 34. However, she's a freshman. In high school.

I'm really just looking for opinions about this and the opportunities that may be available, particularly in the college arena.

Well, really you're supposed to take it junior year. I took it freshman year, like she did, and got a 32. When I took it junior year, I got a 35. I think she won't have that much trouble getting a perfect 36 when she's a junior.

Getting a 36 will certainly get you a lot of acceptance letters and scholarships. A 34, not so much. Think of it this way: a lot of colleges look at everyone who got a 36 on their ACT, and then they look at everyone who got a 35. WAY more people get 34's than 36's. Getting a 36 would drastically improve your chances.

But really, the ACT isn't all that matters. There are lots of other things too, like volunteer work, GPA, extracurriculars, leadership... That's why I can't sit here and tell you which colleges are going to accept your sister.

Just keep working at it. I'm sure you'll do fine.

    Hope I helped!

Like stated before by employing yet another answerer, so a techniques as a single scholarship, likely given by employing the college as a results of grades and/or act score, you probable won't get an entire journey everywhere. fortuitously with a 34 ACT score, you would be able to desire to probable get quite a few distinctive educational scholarships in case you look for them. to illustrate, I have been given a 31 on my ACT, the scholarship I acquire from my college covers ACT rankings from 31-36 and is $5250 a semester, that's the utmost educational scholarship attainable, not counting the honors scholarship. It does not pay for each little thing, yet as a results of fact of my grades and ACT score, I additionally acquire a state funded scholarship it is $2500 a semester. between those 2 scholarships and pell supply, my instructions are paid for and that i've got funds left over. in case you get into the honors college on the college you will probable would desire to artwork tougher, yet your scholarship is often greater advantageous.

the best thing to do is look up what scores are required to get into the colleges of her choice and see if her scores meet the requirements. taking it again the net 3 years won't hurt certainly as scores almost always improve and even if they don't, you can send the colleges the best score of all the times u took it anyway and they'll never know or care about past ones.
