Why ask questions on Yahoo questions?

Why do we ask questions on Yahoo questions when we could just do a quick web search for our answers? Why do so many people respond "why did ask that question" or something similar in the answers?

While a lot of the questions can be quickly answered with a little internet research, there are other, more in depth questions that require more input. I don't respond to questions that are obvious trolls or ones that can be easily found with a search engine query. Some people don't know the terminology of what they're looking for, so it makes plugging in to a search engine difficult and we can often refer them to specific sites that will help them.

I do this as a way to pass the time and because I've got a lot of experience in a wide variety of fields. I never make fun of people or try to sound smarter than I am and I try to help people with things that I have experience, training, and skills in. I try to offer advice that is supportive, positive, and not based on guesswork, but in real world experience. I get annoyed when people tell askers to "look it up" or make fun of them in any way. There are a million other websites and forums to spout political or religious rhetoric and to complain about everything. I've been building and repairing things for a long time and also have experience as a Navy fighter jet controller, Home Depot Associate, have a B.A. in Art, am a manufacturer trained tool repairman, and have been a husband and Dad for over 16 years. I feel pretty comfortable answering questions regarding most of those areas because I also read a lot and tend to find out as much as I can about the work I'm doing. I find it kind of rewarding to be able to calm people down, simplify their problems, help them to be safe, make them feel better about their situation if possible, and maybe even save them some money. And it beats watching TV.

The only questions I've ever asked here had to do with a digital camera I was planning on buying for my wife's birthday, and I wanted opinions based on experience from people that know what they're talking about, because digital photography wasn't something I had a lot of experience with. Websites and customer reviews could only tell me so much and then I needed more information about specific features and their use. This is an excellent place to get those types of answers.

Sometimes the web is wrong in many ways.

It is better to hear it off an actual human instead of some random spam thing.

Humans can be more right than the web?

By far, did we not create the web and internet its self? Sooo we must be smarter! :)

Because you are lazy or looking for a social interaction as opposed to real answers.

People ask why you answered that because they are trolling, looking for a social experience, and found the answer themselves in less than 10 seconds on google.
