How much do feral hog hunters make in salary?

i see a tv show about feral hogs taking over down south and making there way up north, there where people going around killing them for money, looks as though these hogs will be around forever and are going to keep getting worse, so lots of job opening there. Tried googling feral hot hunters salary but found no luck, so just wondering if any one knows how much they make? Would make a dream job for die hard hunters

most of the people you see on those shows work for a wildlife removal company. which is basically just a specialized exterminator. unless you own the company and buy all the licenses, insurance, equipment, etc. then you arent going to get rich. it would just be another job. except crazy hours and the inherent dangers.

You don't need a permit to have a gun in Texas if you are hunting. To find out about concealed carry, search online for Texas Concealed Carry Reciprocity to see if they will recognize PA permits. I don't believe he's ever killed a hog with an air rifle. You have to use dogs, and get within a few feet and shoot them directly in the brain to do this. Your 3" barrel .38 is insufficient even to finish off the hog. A .22 is a joke. If you're pistol hunting, you need a .357 at least, better yet, a .42 or .44 mag.

In texas you can get a commercial hunting license. You would have to negotiate prices with landowners for removal of the animals and you could sell the meat to a butcher. For the guy who said there is no legal commercial hunting in any state, go watch the show where the guys catch gators and sell them to the processors for the hides. They make about $30k in a month if they are decent, but they have only so many tags they can use. You don't need tags for hogs though. They aren't indigenous, they are an encroaching species and a nuisance so they aren't regulated at all.

Rascal I hunt and live here in Texas, feral hogs are hunted year round here. All you need is an out of state hunting license and a place to go. I've hunted hogs with a rifle, shotgun, handgun, knife, spear, and bow. As too your buddy saying he shot hogs with a 22LR, its done all the time. We set hog traps in corn and milo fields so the hogs get run into a winding circle trap, from there we take the 80- 120 pound hogs and run them into a slip panel, take a 22LR slip it into their ear and dead hog. Those are then gutted and given to charities, the 125 or bigger hogs we have a buyer for who then turns them loose for you northern boys to come down here and spend your money on. The small ones are most of time let go. I wouldn't reccomend using a 22LR for hogs that weren't pinned or trapped, they tend to get an attitude when getting shot. If you get to come down here have your buddy hook you up with a dog and knife hunt. Thats about the most exciting hog hunt you can do, we take a group of dogs that will track and corner a hog, slip up on their back leg, jam your knife up through the side of the ribs and stomach through the diapram into the heart and push down as you come out. The trick then is to get back without getting a tusk through your leg. If your not into that then handgun hunting at night with a spot light on baited roads, rifle hunting from a stand or ledge, or you can load up on buckshot and walk the milo and corn fileds and hunt them like quail. Long story short, we have a growing problem with feral hogs here in Texas, come on down and get you some. Good luck and good hunting.

Hog hunting and hog trapping is way different. With licensing you can trap hog for profit. They are seen as a major nuisance.Trapping fit profit you aren't gonna make much money unless you own your own trapping business with a good amount of contracts

you said " You cannot 'hunt for money" " that is a violation of every hunting law in every state " but.............

people hunt for money all the time, they hunt and trap animals for the fur and make good money selling them, this has been going on since the time of fur traders in settlements.back in the 1400's and still going on today. You can say its not commercial hunting but if its not then what do you call it?

Also some of the gator people get paid to remove unwanted gators

and they don't always do a catch and release program.

( I know of 3 different people that do this ) and thats the same thing isn't it?

the fur of animals is removed and the carcus is thrown away on most animals, even the buffalo were hunted commercially to nearly extenction.

    No.

You cannot 'hunt for money' - that is a violation of every hunting law in every state.

Now, if a state puts up a bounty - say $20 for every pair of hog ears you bring in - then there you go. That would be different.

However, it would take a barrel full of hog ears to pay for my guns, scopes, ammo, trucks, fuel, insurance, home, and to put food on the table..........

I live in Alaska. At one time they had bounties on bears, wolves and coyote over the past 60 years. Back in 1952 the cover of Boys Life showed a bi-plane with a 30cal machine gun mounted on it that was used to clear bears from the Kelsen Bay area on Kodiak Island - I got a chance to meet the guy who was the gunner back in 1988. Talking with some of the real old timers - the money they made on animal bounties was barely enough to cover beer money. I am not seeing you being able to buy a nice truck, new condo, trophy wife, and retire at 32 on hog ears.
