I have about 50 lbs to lose, should i do ab exercises now?

i do p90x plus cardio and i just got a spin bike so ill bestarting that up in leiu of my elliptical soon. but i have 50 lbs to lose. i want to know if i should be doing ab exercises now. or should i wait until i lose most of this weight? my abs feel strong under all this fat. i feel my abs contracting when i do the p90x (classic). i know abs exercises are for toning, but i need/want to lose weight....so is it pointless to do abs now?

    You should wait until you lose your desired weight, because this is were many people make mistake they do situps and abs exercises. But its pointless because until u lose the excess fat, you wont be able to see them anyway . Plus Your better of putting more effort into cardio to lose weight quicker.

    Toning is the most misused word in dieting ever. Alot of people seem to think it's the magical process in which fat is converted into muscle, or the ability to spot reduce fat, both of which are actually phyisically impossible. Toning is really just building up muscle and lowering body fat, so if you are dieting there's no reason why you shouldn't be doing any sort of muscle building exercise at the same time.

    Escher is a moron. Ab exercise are great for strengthening your core whether u need to gain weight or lose weight. It is POINTLESS to neglect a muscle in your training. And BTW escher, toning is not bulking, toning is losing FAT DUMB ***. U cant bulk and burn fat at the same time. Why the hell do u think bodybuilders weight 300+ before meets and CUT when its time for the meet. People like u need to hide under a rock.

    you can eat how much you like if you stay within these 3 guidelines and still lose fat naturally and gradually. You should lose 10lbs each month on average.

    1.eat only steamed lean meats, eggs, healthy fruits ,vegetables, nuts, grains, & yogurt..2. drink only water, juice, & milk..3. walk or do some physical exercise 1-3 hour every day.

    (btw, recommend you also to buy an electronic food steamer ((Very cheap)) and a rice cooker as makes it very easy to prepare healthy meals ,,add a bit of olive oil and pepper, spices on top of steamed vegeatables, fish or chicken to add more taste if wish as these are healthy too.)

    Good question.Im in the same situation. I gained 20pounds in the last few months had a six pack and all. Now its all body fat.im hitting the eliptical 30aday and building muscle by lifting weights as I burn my body fat. But to answer yo ques its best to burn yo body fat first that it will b easier to build up yo stomach definition
