Brown Lamb Curls, care to take a peek and C/C?

Little lambs have dirty curls

In their faces.

Curls that have dusty words

And bitter cherry laughs

And brown whites.

Little lambs sit behind fences

And they watch the grass

At their dried noses

For grass is green and crisp

And, it grows, like they don’t,

Except for hair to long.

Little lambs keep gazes down

Because bigger animals can't be look

Into the accusing eye.

And little lambs have trouble dealing with

eye spite.

Little lambs linger in the background

As backgrounds are safe and sure

And they wait out their lifelong sentience

Wondering how their curls

Could have ever been made this dirty.

Update:

Little Lambs shiver away from caz!!! Don't eat me hinny!

Thank you all for your sweet comments.

Update 2:

ooo, never caught those, BG, thanks!

autumnluvr, that is exactly what I wanted! I hope ever reader gets their own meaning from it, applying this poem to some aspect/memory of their lives.

And HD, as you may have thought, I never eat lamb, even at Easter! It makes me very sad, and it isn't even the best tasting food! So, I am a lambitarian, I suppose you could say!

Update 3:

LOL lovechild!

What a great poem Poetry Writer! I love the style you've written this in and the flow to it. It's quite charming and has so much to say and leaves so much room for interpretation. I venture each reader will come up with some differing slant on the meaning. Good Job!!

I am particularly intrigued by your last stanza "they wait out their lifelong sentience wondering how their curls could have ever been made this dirty." ..........a great line that really hits home and makes one think

Thank you all for your sweet comments I read as sweet carrots, LOL

I really love this, now between this, the saying 'Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb' and 'litle lambs eat ivy' and of course 'Silence of the Lambs, I will never look at the creatures the same...

Needs some slight editing (hair too long - bigger animals can't look). That said, I'd add that this seems the perfect metaphor for people who feel left out of the proverbial Loop. Little lambs, though, have to gain confidence that they will be accepted...because they usually are. Go boldly wherever thou treadest, Little Lambs!

The last stanza is very potent to me.

I have a hard time discussing lambs because they get eaten.

This struck me as incredibly sad,

    the loss of innocence,

the shame that makes us feel dirty.
