I need answers from believers & non-believers...?

No matter what faith, religion, creator, god, spirit, whatever you choose to believe, isn't the point really that what you choose to believe is the right answer as long as it works for you in your life & you're not harming directly or indirectly other people?

Update:

Please remember that I stated "as long as it works for you in your life"

If it doesn't, then obviously you need change.

Update 2:

I guess that people need to realize that sometimes the answer is that there is no answer and be content with that.

So, are you asking a question, or trying to illuminate our thinking by your obvious answer?

Let's pose a question to you, suppose you live in a town in the hills, where the mountains above you are the main source of water from melting snow. Suppose you were up in those mountains, and saw that the snow was heavier than normal that year and that summer was going to be warmer than normal, and that there was an imminent threat of flood to the town. Would be it harming people to go and tell them that? What if people who had lived there for decades, longer than you, and had seen all different kinds of situations, didn't believe you, and the more you tried to warn them, the angrier they became? What if they literally started yelling at you and beating you up? Would your failure to keep warning them be justified? And what if there wasn't a flood, and everyone said, "See, I told you!" But you were up in the mountains and saw that a slide had piled up a lot of rocks and trees, so the flood was coming, but later? Would it be harmful to tell people who didn't want to know? Would it work for you to keep getting beaten up? And what if some people couldn't leave? Would you be kinder to not tell them?

Life is different in many ways, why its this way, I don't know. But throughout history there's been religion and its given people something to believe in and follow. I think there is religion made for each individual and its our choice if we follow it or not. What you've asked confuses me because the religions out there might not always have the right answer, but then again what does? So I believe nothing is right, but it might not be that way to someone else. Ans yes it is the right answer as long as its what you believe and not what someone pressures you to believe. :-)

Well a fundamentalist Christian and other born again mentalities will tell you that NO, this isn't OK. ALL MUST choose Jesus CHrist as their Savior in this life or they face eternal damnation.

Of course there are also many "OTHER" Christians who believe that an all knowing, all powerful, perfectly loving & just Heavenly Father will in perfect fairness make HIS Gospel Plan and message available to ALL (The Plan of Salvation) either in this life, or in the next. I totally believe that as you state - YES, we each seek, learn, find and have different spiritual needs and pursuits and we FIND the niche that FITS US best and that speaks TRUTH to us individually. For some, that will not be Christianity in this life and it matters who we are becoming in this life to our Heavenly Father FAR more than it matters to Him WHICH CHURCH we believe in or FIND.

You were never created to be anyone's puppet or created to "not" think or believe in whatever you wanted too. And think about this as well for a minute regarding the statement I just made. I'm sure that sometime in your life you have liked or even loved someone and maybe the other person only liked or loved you a quarter as much as you liked them. And as much as you wanted the other person to like or love you just as much as you liked or loved them you knew there was nothing you could do no matter how hard you tried to get them to feel the same way. I'm bringing this up because God didn't create us to automatically believe or love Him. He gave us a choice and He gave us this choice because He wants us to come to Him because we want to, because we learn of Him and who He is and what He stands for and want to come to him, and want to love Him because we want too not because we have too. You can't truly like or love anything if you are forced it doesn't work that way. That is why it says (in the Bible) you have to let God into your heart, there's a reason for that, but a person has to want to let God into there heart otherwise its not sincere. (I hope I'm making some sense here).

So, what if there really is a God and a Heaven and a Hell?

Some might not think so because of what I'm about to say but hey, too bad I don't care.

I believe in God, always have always will. I sometimes try to point out to those who want some evidence as to God's existence to prove that He exists. Like ok, guess all those times in my life that I was completely alone (and I do mean alone) and the only one I could turn to was only to God regarding the many things I had to get through or over I knew that God helped me. I know this because He was the only one that knew of the things I prayed to Him about for the help or the guidance. And yes He has always been there for me, always. And no, for personal reason (my Identity) I will not get into what He helped me with.

Regarding the God that I believe in and believe what He can do I only have to look at the earth and what is living on it and the beauty of it. Alls I have to do is look at the pictures that come back from a telescope that man and his imagination genius and creativity has created in order to see the vast universe that we will never be able to reach no matter how long we are on this planet.

I look at the entire picture of it all and it just proves to me that all of it was just no accident.

One more thing for those who always want proof or become so engrossed with science and what if's and what nots..........there are many things in this world that ARE right there in front of our faces and yet we will still deny it or them. Life and the answers we sometimes search for are sometimes right there in our face. Even though we can see, we are sometimes blind.

What's the point in communication if what communication can do is to tell of our own personal experiences and beliefs.

How do you know that in what I've written here that it just might intreige someone enough to start thinking differently and start finding out about who and what God is. How do you know that this little question and answer web site couldn't or would enlighten those who have there doubts about God or has never believed open them up to the possibility. Funny sometimes how things can work, hmmm.

I agree with you completely. As long as youre not hurting anyone then it shouldnt matter. But some people like to torment others and laugh at them online because they cant do it in real life. Also the people who believe in God are just tryin to help people. In that world they actually care about people and want them to go to heaven cuz thats what they believe, there is nothin wrong with that. There is nothin wrong with atheists arguin their case as to why they dont believe. Everyone has the right to say what they want. Thats why some people are mean and call people stupid and retarded, etc. but to me if you are bein cool and just proving your point your good.

    I agree whole heartedly.

    However:

Christians are hurting my children by pushing their beliefs into the school system.

Christians are hurting my income by having tax-free status so I must indirectly support them.

Christians are hurting countless non-believers by making laws that force non-believers to conform to their beliefs. (be that gay marriage, blue laws, or others)

I would be absolutely fine with Christians if they didn't have such a stranglehold on the laws of my country.

For instance, I think Hindu beliefs are just as absurd as Christian beliefs. But Hindus haven't affected my government.

Nope. There is objective truth in this world, it's not okay to believe whatever bullsh*t makes you happy at the moment... Do you want to live in a society of deluded know-nothing idiots?

  • 1 decade ago

I agree with you..as long as you are strong in YOUR beliefs that is all that matters. Do not be swayed by the people who will try to change your views, just stand for something and hopefully thats GOD.

  • 1 decade ago

I would agree with that in the broadest sense. For me, the best thing in life is my own personal happiness.

If someone finds their own personal happiness in what anyone else would consider the most irrational belief system on Earth, then all the best to them.

Unfortunately for too many it isn't enough that they think they know the answer...everyone else has to acknowledge it as the answer too. Someone else living their life in a way that is 'wrong' can't be tolerated.
