Nausea during pregnancy...is there a time line? And weird food cravings.?

I'm four weeks pregnant, this is my first pregnancy *happy dance*!

Anyhoo, I'm already feeling nauseous! I get to sick to my stomach really easily and it's effecting my diet. I want to have a good nutritional diet for my little one but it's hard. For example, yesterday I burned a grilled cheese, like it was coal black, I ended up inhaling that one and threw away the second one I made :(, I've never done that before. Today I was craving a salad and three bites into it, it made me sick. I'm not sure what I can do about my diet if eating the "good" food makes me sick. Also, I got really dizzy yesterday and knocked over my couch.. is that normal? Sorry for all the questions I live alone! And I'm a little scared and nervous, I want to do the best! And my doc appt isn't until next week :/

Update:

Thanks Baby V, great advice! And yes I am taking prenatal caps :)

    Hi there! Firstly, congratulations!

In regards to the morning sickness, there's not much you can do unfortunately. I've been going through the same thing for nearly 12 weeks now. I get ravenous, start feeling nauseous, begin to eat then feel sick by eating! Very frustrating. It's recommended that you eat about 6 small meals a day. Lots of fruit and veges, crackers, and obviously high iron meats. I know it's tough, but just keep trying to eat healthy, and keep taking your vitamins. It doesn't last forever!

As for the dizziness, you need to drink more water. Here's a good idea of what you should be drinking:

Aim for eight 8-ounce glasses per day (64 fluid ounces) of fluid, plus one 8-ounce cup for each hour of light activity. Milk, juice, decaffeinated drinks, and caffeinated drinks all contain plenty of water and "count" toward your fluid intake.

And lastly, this website is really helpful for first timers:

Hopefully the sickness will die down, it's often common it doesn't if you find this sickness carries on and you're struggling to keep anything down go and see your dr, they don't mind prescribing anti sickness drugs after 12 weeks IF you're really needing them, I was sick in my first until the day he popped out I ignored it at first and couldn't keep anything down, I became very dizzy and very sick and was hospitalized for a week on drips!

Constant sickness and lack of food or water can cause severe dehydration.

Dizzyness is common in early pregnancy, make sure you are eating lots of fresh greens, cabbage and brussels are great for iron and this can help with the dizzyness.

Drink lots of water if you can, even dilute it with squash.

Crackers are good to nibble on and are a carbohydrate which can keep your energy levels up.

If you;re not allergic to nuts put a bit of nutella chocolate spread on the cracker, again this is slow releasing energy food and can help

Cravings like that are normal, I craved pork scratchings and pickles at the beginning of this pregnancy, my second, and now I can't stand the smell!!

You;re cravings will chop and change hun

But the main priority is your sickness, try and keep something down and plenty of liquids :) xx

There isn't really a timeline. Everyone is different. I had weird craving in my third trimester and my nausea went from week 6 to about week 13. Just make sure you take prenatals and you should be fine. Find foods that'll settle right in your stomach obviously salad isn't one of them right now. Congrats

You are fine. Your body will do crazy things when hormones change. When you have been sitting or laying down, get up slowly so you don't get as dizzy. I recommend keeping saltines by the bed and nibble some before you get up. This helped me a lot with dizziness! If you can't keep anything down, try nibbling on saltine crackers and drinking lots of water. Always remember the water! When you do have to throw up food, it makes it a lot easier when you drank water! Trust me! I had really bad "morning sickness" which actually was "all the time" sickness! Just try to eat small portions of food throughout the day and try to eat some healthy foods.

i won't be able to devour cheese in any respect, now that i'm pregnant, yet i've got been yearning pickles like loopy... and my cousin who's pregnant to boot has been yearning crackers. so which you're no longer the only one in this occasion.

Try anything with ginger in it (chews, candy, ale, cookies). It should start subsiding at around 12 weeks or so.

why are people.. who are obviously not ready to bring up another being on this planet.. reproducing and elevating the population.. especially a population that will not be raised properly and continue in the debauchery of mankind?

    :(
