Why are adulterers able to have their marriages recognized by the state and fed. gov. but not homosexuals?

It seems to me that if we are supposed to legally define marriage using the Bible, it should be the way the Bible actually defines it... not just the parts that apply to homosexuals. Where am I wrong here?

Update:

LineDanc: You appear to have misunderstood the question. I was already aware of the scriptures you quoted for me. The question, was why adulterers are allowed to have their marriages recognized... but not homosexuals... somehow I thought I made that quite clear. You seem to have thought I asked "where does the bible say that homosexual behavior is wrong?"

Reading is Fundamental

Update 2:

Cal: More children are born outside of wedlock than within. I think your theory is flawed. Heterosexual marriage doesn't become null and void if the married couple doesn't produce children.

It's silly isn't it? Really, no laws should be made solely because of the ideology of any particular religious group.

The Bible has little to do with it. Legal marriage is a contract not a religious concept. The government (the people) have a vested interest in heterosexual marriage. Heterosexuals have a nasty habit of making babies. We have an interest in seeing that those babies are supported and do not become wards of the state. By encouraging marriage, the government hopes to promote stable families. Doesn't always work that way, but that is one of the primary reasons the government is in the marriage business. On the other hand, Homosexual couples do not make babies (at least not without help from a third party). There is little or no reason for the government to get involved in homosexual marriage. Regarding your reply, I didn't say it was a legal marriage was successful in achieving it's goals, I just told you what the motivation was. If your argument is that marriage is a failed government program, I agree. But then why would you want to expand it to homosexual couples? You point out a problem with modern marriage. Technology and changing attitudes have somewhat decoupled child bearing and marriage. In the past, it was pretty much assumed that marriage = kids. Given that is no longer always the case, it seems tax benefits and entitlements should be tied to child bearing, not to simply being married.

At this website you will locate strategies from diverse agencies: MYLOANSRATES.internet- RE How come homosexuals want their marriage known via the state? Marriage has in basic terms been known via state for 2 hundred years. You get married for the lord. Getting a freelance could be executed by a lawyer.

Marriage is the union between a man and a woman. America was said to be founded on biblical principles...that's a joke...so that is why federal government and many states do not recognize these kinds of marriages. But your wish is coming through. Maryland is one of a few states that now recognizes gay marriages. So not all states reject homosexual marriages, and as time goes on the list of states that permit this abomination will increase...drawing them closer to their END.

Get hitched under whatever god you like. Personally I think getting recognized by the state is a negative. That only leads to **** like Alimony later. Honestly, don't ever get married. It's the worlds oldest scam.

Tell me, whose laws mean more to you? Man's laws or Gods? With man's laws, anything goes? But God's laws are different. In his word the Bible, BOTH adulterers AND homosexuals are considered wrong. As 1 Cor. 6:9, 10 (TEV) says: "Do not fool yourselves; people who are immoral or who worship idols or are ADULTERERS or HOMOSEXUAL PERVERTS or who steal or are greedy or are drunkards or who slander others or are thieves; none of these will possess God's Kingdom." As you can see in these verses, homosexuality and adultery are listed among the evils as drunkenness, slander, thievery, and greed. They are all equally bad.

By all the thumbs down that I have already received, most people here would rather ignore what God says about homosexuality. That is to be expected. However, if you want to please God, you must have the same attitude as the apostles, who told the Jewish high court: "“We must obey God as ruler rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)

So the choice is yours. Will YOU obey God's laws or man's?

Edit: I understood your question perfectly, but, apparently, you didn't understand my reply. As I already said, under man's laws, anything goes, even when they appear to be contradictory. For instance, although most countries have laws that say murder is illegal, those laws do not apply when soldiers involved in combat are permitted to kill the "enemy." But, in God's eyes, murder is murder.

True Christians strive to uphold Jehovah's laws and moral standards rather than the inconsistent laws of imperfect humans.

One last thing. If you object to my Biblical reply, why did you ask your question in the "Religion and Spirituality" section, not in the section "Politics and "Government"?

Homophobes =/= Bible freaks. Both are annoying though.

Anyways, Brahma doesn't say anything bad about Homosexuality, so those who say it is an abomination to God are lying.
