1000 rights and protections that are automatic with marriage?
Does anybody have that list... or a link with that list?
1 AnswerLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender1 decade agoWhy are adulterers able to have their marriages recognized by the state and fed. gov. but not homosexuals?
It seems to me that if we are supposed to legally define marriage using the Bible, it should be the way the Bible actually defines it... not just the parts that apply to homosexuals. Where am I wrong here?
9 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy is it considered morally wrong for homosexual Americans to expect equal rights?
Why aren't the religious right insisting that divorced people, hateful people, prideful people, and liars should have restricted or fewer rights. Shouldn't they be fighting for a new class of citizen specifically defined by the sins they commit?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhen the Bible God told people to kill other people...?
... who should be held morally responsible for the murders?
Reason most often given <by God> for demanding people kill other people...
they were born in the wrong country...
How is that even remotely ok?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow many of you get home from sunday morning church and immediately log on to Y!A and ask questions ...?
to tell others the things you heard there?
You know... like the arguments against evolution... or signs of the end of the world etc.
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoFrom a Christian perspective, should adulterers be allowed to get legally married?
Adultery is still a sin, isn't it?
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do Christians claim that Wiccans worship the Devil when Wiccans don't believe in the Devil?
Are they liars... or just being told the wrong thing and believing it?
25 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAre there Christians who understand how offensive certain types of questions are? (see below)?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200809...
It would be different if the asker were sharing the joy and love their religion brought to them, but the fear tactic, suggesting that people other than those who believe just like them are in some way “gonna have some explaining to do.” Is obnoxious.
It’s like the “hard sell” pitch that suggests imminent need to buy… now…or the buyer will lose the opportunity.
Are there Christians who view this as offensive, too? Is this really the “method” that Jesus suggested to “win souls?”
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDo Jewish people believe that the following scriptures refer to the origin of Satan, or Earthy leaders who...?
.........opposed the Nation of Israel?
Isaiah 14:12
Isaiah 14:7-16
Ezekiel 26:21
Ezekiel 28:13-19
I know what Christians believe. I know what Christians teach. I'm not asking about that.
I'm specifically asking for the JEWISH perspective.
Thank you.
If you don't respect that request, I will make fun of your reading skills.
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoThe origin of the bible character "satan"... Where is it in the bible?
I know and understand the "common belief" of how Satan came about, but cannot find it in the Bible. Can somebody please give me SCRIPTURE <as in Book, Chapter, and Verse> where this is documented?
In another question...
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=200809...
an answer was this...
"It was the lust for power that made them rebel, or haven't you read the bible?"
I've heard that many times, too, but can't find it in the Bible.
Not interested in a Revelation 12 explanation...
14 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy do hurricanes always hit the Bible Belt of America?
How many church socials are being canceled due to evacuation?
<raised eyebrow in knowing fashion> Do you think Allah is trying to tell us something?
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy are the beatitudes recorded differently in the gospels of Matthew and Luke?
Is this a translation error... similar to Jesus saying you must hate your family to be a follower of Christ?
If two different gospels record the same sermon different ways... and Jesus said the exact opposite of what he meant, how can this be a perfect word of God? Is there a secret code for figuring this kind of thing out, or does everybody just happily make up their own explanations?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDivorce and re-marriage in the Bible?
Could somebody please tell me the scriptures thar refer to divorce and re-marriage in the Bible?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes the description of the "rocky ground" people in Mark 4 <parable of sower>?
sound strangely familiar? Is Jesus really saying that those who react that way don't have strong roots in their Faith?
4:16 And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
4:17 And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.
What are your thoughts?
1 AnswerReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhat did Jesus mean when he said what he said in Mark 2?
2:17 When Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Does this mean that there are righteous who do not need Jesus? Should his modern day disciples heed this verse when INSISTING that everybody requires Jesus?
What are your thoughts?
23 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy should Christians continue to fight against marriage equality for homosexuals?
Please give Biblical references where Jesus... or any NT writer claimed that anybody should defy the law of land to promote specific principals. <Please keep in mind that the law in America BEGINS with equality... the founding ideal of law of this land>
20 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoDoes Matthew Chapter Five describe the attributes of those who will take part in the Kingdom of Heaven?
Or is that just a figurative ideal that really describes the attributes of God, not the “goal” of those who follow Christ?
Either way, the end of the Chapter plainly states that Jesus was giving a directive, not just philosophizing.
How does this directive apply to the new age christian doctrine of “warfare” and battle with the very same people that Jesus PLAINLY said to not fight and argue with?
Do the “angry” and “judgmental” christians ever read that chapter and feel “conviction?”
Wasn’t Jesus saying that if you live by the standard described there, you would be fulfilling the law… and be able to take part in the Kingdom of Heaven?
Wasn’t he saying… in spite of what you have been taught… and in spite of how you may feel about it, live THIS way?
What are your thoughts on this?
4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWhy is it ok of Christians "rant" or "chat" in questions and answers but if "non-believers" do it, ?
it gets a violation and is deleted? I thought the Terms Of Service were for everybody, is this not the case?
11 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoIf gay marriage can't be stopped, should we go after divorce & remarriage after divorce?
I guess I'm asking what the next idea is to protect traditional family values. Is there a list? What about out of wedlock child-bearing?
There is more than just the gay marriage thing, right?
