i live in the north east and from time to time hurricanes travel up the east coast and hit this area so that analysis is not correct

Where exactly would you expect them to strike...in Colorado, North Dakota or maybe Alaska?

Thing is, I think the bible belt is located where it is in part because that region is vulnerable to hurricanes! For one, when you live in a shooting gallery where "acts of God" (hurricanes, tornados, etc...) regularly threaten your life and property, you are far more likely to seek protection from a God.

More importantly, that region of the country is the agricultural center of the US.

Any number of factors (e.g., rain provided by the Gulf and regular hurricanes in the summer months, warmer temperatures, fertile soil carried from the north by a really big river and other smaller rivers, etc...) combined to make the bible belt the best farmland in the country...and no one is more vulnerable to weather-related phenomena (floods, tornados, hurricanes, drought, etc...) than a farmer.

For a couple of hundred years, that region was largely populated by farmers who had no hope of predicting or controlling climate factors that threatened their survival every year...it is hardly surprising they would look for some comfort in faith in a God that promised to provide for their needs!!!

They still get hit by hurricanes because hurricanes are a force of nature...one that has always affected that region of the country (along wiith other fun "acts of God")...and one we have thankfully learned enough about to take precautions (I live on the coast in Texas...put the shutters on yesterday!!!).

Allah by translation is God. Hurricanes only occur in our part of the world, emanating from the tropics, where else could they hit besides what you refer to as the Bible belt?

I am pretty sure it's due to the geographical conditions of the areas.Just like why there are droughts and extreme heat in the Middle East.

naw man, that's just nature at work, but it seems like nobody wants to understand that. even till today there are people, like you, who think that hurricanes, volcanoes, and storms are caused by magic men in the sky.
