What has a conservative done for the homeless or jobless in YOUR neighborhood?

Please, tell me what *any* conservative pol has done to address homelessness or joblessness in your neighborhood. At the national level, they've done nothing but enrich the wealthy, continuing Dubya's scheme of redistributing wealth to the wealthy.

So, they must have done something locally to garner such favor among the electorate. Just what have they done in your neck of the woods?

Something? Anything?

We house 22 homeless families from other larger cities in a former Tabor College dorm.

We educate for employment at 2 centers.

We have a jobs program to find and place people in jobs.

    We operate a food bank

We have a free clothing distribution center in Marion Kansas.

We have an annual meat canning event that sends hundreds of lbs of canned meat for free to 3rd world communities in need.

Our farmers donate a portion of each harvest to communities in need.

All this is local Christian run and organized, all local Christian volunteer staffed. This is not unusual and this community has been doing it for over 70 years. We just don't brag about it.

Our major employers here operate a big homeless shelter. Others are major supporters of another shelter. And our governor just made it possible to keep a major employer (3500 jobs right there) by working with the Union and trading tax benefits for negotiated contracts.

All in all those "evil conservatives* (that you love to hate, admit it) saved at least 5000 jobs just since the first of this year. Midwestern State.

I live out in the country so I don't run into many homeless people out here. However, ran into a homeless several weeks ago, from Alaska of all places and he's been residing with us for the past three weeks.

Donated to Charity, relied on human kindness and not the government.

If American's in general weren't getting taxed so high for welfare then more people would donate. I work at a tax office you would be amazed how much money and Items people will donate even while broke. This is as it should be.

That's easy, in Las Vegas we hammered the firefighters union for abusing sick leave and retrieved some of the money, a Republican councilwoman got some of the money to needy organizations for the hungry. Sorry to burst your evil bubble.

Well.. almost every homeless shelter and soup kitchen in the country is funded and manned by conservatives.

But it's OK.. we know that it's far more important for your kind to scream your demands that somebody help the poor.. than it is for you to ever give a penny of your own money to do it.

Actually, I've NEVER seen a liberal volunteer at a soup kitchen or donate to churches that feed the poor.

Nothing yet, but the liberals that are in control in Chicago have sure done a good job of running things into the ground.

Well, I helped people get back on their feet for free, instead of charging them a going rate of $1000.

    How'd that be?
