Poll: Which acclimation technique do you use for new purchases?

Just curious.

Please detail your approach and specify if it is saltwater or freshwater.

I use the drip method.

Depends on the fish. Freshwater, something common and hardy I float, but if there's ANY chance of a problem I drip acclimate. If it's salt, I drip, period.

Drip acclimatization, once you get into the habit, isn't hard at all, as long as you remember you're doing it. I've had a couple spills. ;-)

With my tropical freshwater fish I use to float and put a cup of tank water in the bag every 15 minutes or so, but now I've realised how easy it is to set up a drip so I've started doing that :P even if its just a cheap/hardy fish I'll still use the drip technique

All mine is marine. I float to temp then do a drip acclimation on livestock and inverts. I just do a float for temperature on coral and put it in the tank most of the time. If the water the animal came in is already the same salinity -/+ 0.001 then I usually just do a float acclimation unless the animal was expensive. The bigger the difference in salinity, the longer I drip acclimate.

    Hmm Maybe the First Choice?
