CHild Obesity whose fault????

Rates Childhoold Obesity have increased in the past two decades thereare two main debates about the causes of this condition

1. Personal responsibilty in the case of the children " Parents Responsibility" this is increasing rates of obesity are due to parent's failure to limit their children's access to Junk food,

2. "Toxic Environment" this side says that energy dense food is too widely available ( Vending Machines in schools) and that opportunities for physical exercise are too sparse ( unavailable of side walks in many neighborhoods)

Which of this debate do you believe??

Childhood obesity has tripled in the last 30 years. This is a major problem especially in the U.S.

Parents are a child's role model. Many times a child's parents are their heroes and that's great. Kids often times mimic what their parents do. For instance, if the parent is sitting on the couch watching TV and eating chips then the kids will think that's normal and okay. If the parent doesn't exercise the chances of the kid exercising is slim.

There are also way too many unhealthy, processed, quick foods out there which are advertised on TV specifically towards kids which is wrong. Those foods are also cheap which is desirable by some parents since inflation has ravaged this country economically. Cheap foods=unhealthy foods in many cases.

As you can see there is much blame to pass around but it all boils down to personal responsibility.

...is this an opinion speech? It seems like it. If so, you should come up with your OWN opinion and do the research to back up your ideas. Personally, I think it is everyone's fault, but a lot of it should be blamed on the media/corporations. Fast food is promoted way too much in this country, and "all you can eat" is America's fashion. When you grow up hearing that it's important to clean your plate, it's hard to do anything else.

Parents are to blame, because the food they eat, the time they play all center around what the parent allows. Parents need to exercise so the best thing to do is add the child to that... Many gyms realize this and have "family" classes...

I blame the parents. Yes, the bad foods are so readily available but it's the parents responsibility to teach and set boundaries regarding their children.

It's the parents fault. It's the parents responsibility to control what their child eats.

parents whould control them so i think parents but if a kid gets to be like 10 they should be more independent and decisive on what they eat
