I was about the same in high school, and I was about 20 seconds faster. Run practices harder, you'll see a difference. Also, stretch a lot, loosen up your body. But for middle school, thats like a #2 or #3 guy on a good team.

I run the 800 in middle school to , and let me say in my eyes that is a good time .
But really you should compare your time to your competitor's because that's who your running against
(and you want to have a better time)
Tips for a better time:
.Go slow and steady for the first 1 and a half laps , then in the last half use all your energy to push past your competitors
. also practice , practice , practice running the 800 and have someone time you

I ran the 800 in college. It replace into by way of far my well-liked and terrific race. First, you are able to desire to have a stable beginning of long distance working the place you're tender working miles at a time. once you build up your staying power, you have have been given to get returned the cost you lost from working long distance. We used to run 300s and 600s to construct velocity for the race. whilst race day comes, pass out stable yet very actual and as on the edge of the leaders as you may nicely be. once you're making the turn on the 2nd lap, you ought to start pushing your self extra durable. no longer a sprint yet complicated. once you hit the terrific curve you have to be working complicated and carry on till the top. I gained many races with this. The worst factor you're able to do is pass out too quickly and crash. i've got completed this too. It sucks.

i'm just gonna be honest: it's not a spectacular time, even for middle school. 800m times can range from sub 2 minutes to 3:30. a couple years ago, i had the same build and was running ~2:35. but to be more honest still, it's no big deal. you have 5 more years to improve. like the other contributor said, don't compare yourself to your opponents, but rather to yourself. don't feel like you need to WIN the race. if you keep setting personal records (which shouldn't be too hard), you will eventually edge the competition.
