Indian Fans,Are you happy?

Indian Fans,Are you happy about Indian batting performances so far in the tournament?

I mean they have the best batting department of the tournament with the likes of Sachin,Shewag and later of the innings by Pathan.Still they struggled against Ireland losing 5 wickets for 200 runs, and that too in 46th over.

And again today they are struggling in the chase losing 5 wkts for 139 runs against world's 12th ranked team on a good batting pitch.Indian bowling also not upto task apart from part timers like Yusuf and Yuvi.So is this made any harm to your world cup dreams or it's just not the peak time for india?

I will be very frank. The answer is NO.

Indian team has the most enviable batting, all they need is to get over the complacency. They have been taking even minnows too lightly. Against Ireland, all the top 4 wickets were avoidable. Same is the case here.

There is no doubt that India isn't going to lose against such teams. However, such an attitude is going to hamper their performances further in the campaign.

Honestly, there is definetly room for improvement.U can't say that team India has struggled so far, for they have won most of their games so far, with one tie and have topped the ranking chart.

Ireland and Holland had both played to their full potential in both the matches, which was a test for team India, batting second & chasing. Not to forget that Ireland won a thriller against England after a mamooth chase.

Every time they go out to bat, people expect a Sachin or a Sehwag to score centuries. This is wrong. The team did well to win the match comprehensively. Look at the result.

One way of assessing the batting strength of a team is by looking at the team's average runs per innings (RPI). Let us see how India fared on this count, so far in the series. (I have removed the SL-Aus match which was rain-affected). The RPI's of various teams so far are in WC are:

    Aus - 47.00; Ind - 44.21; SL - 40.88; NZ - 40.41; SA - 38.78; Eng - 35.47; WI - 29.89; Pak - 25.91; Ire - 24.07; Zim - 20.76; Neth - 18.97; Ban - 17.55; Can - 14.97; Ken - 11.68.

So, does the performance give a handle for criticism ? No.

happy as we have won today against holland as also on sunday against ireland.but in both the matches they thought that they can score the required runs just like that. they had seen victory in the first ball of their innings rather than towards the last. however great your team is you should not forget that no match is won till the winning runs are scored or the last wicket taken. today they were too casual in their batting and hence the minor hiccup.they should be more professional in their approach rather than playing to the gallery.

  • No no harm done to my world cup dreams. I still think India will win. And I am happy a win is a win, yes they should have won by more, but they won didn't they.

Yuvraj Singh is not a part timer. And he is actually playing best these days and that makes me feel better because Yuvi is my favourite cricketer.

The batting was fine until we played the so called minnows of our group, Ireland, and now Holland. The batsmen are unnecessarily and overly aggressive, resulting in their downfall. They need to respect the opponent, no matter what their ranking is and play against the "minnows" like they would against a top test side.

Still a 5 wicket win. Winning is important, everyone had their game, unlike England loosing.

Well, The batsman has taken batting there very lightly that's why India were five down in this match. At one time, we were 69 for 0 in 7 overs.

    So, Calm down !

Yes ,because they win with their players, they played carefully. they don't want to take risk. that doesn't mean.they aren't playing well. till they are not loosers.
