Is this pink eye? or just normal irritation?

I wear horrible horrible contacts that my idiot eye doctor made me use, specifically Acuvue Oasis (for astigmatism) and yesterday I woke up with a really red eye, it feels dry and watery and hurts really bad. I avoided wearing my contacts yesterday and my boyfriend thinks it's pink eye. I'm not 100% sure that it's pink eye but maybe really strong irritation from my contacts? Any advice would be fantastic.

Update:

@Brandy, I'm thinking of going to the doctor today just in case it is pink eye but for now I carry around hand sanitizer for when I touch my face, never can be too careful! and my eye is dry yet watery. I had a bit of puss in my eye this morning but it wasn't crusty.

With Pink Eye (conjunctivitits) you will also experience a sensitivity to light, and eye discharge. Pink eye also hurts.

The discharge is usually gooey and yellowish (like snot) Sorry for being gross.

It kinda sounds like it is irritation, but in either case stop wearing the contacts. Pink eye does not go away on it's own and you will need to go to the Dr. for it. Don't wear the contacts and see if that changes anything. Good Luck I hope you feel better soon--both scenarios stink, I feel for you.

Pink eye usually is associated with crustiness, heaviness, redness, dryness. I say wait a few days and if it doesn't go away then it could be pink eye. So until then just try not to get too close to people since that is very contagious.
