Update:

Clearly there are some here who still are uneducated when it comes to the meaning of feminism

Hey, Deidre!! Hmm...I have a few suggestions:

    1. A female superheroine

    2. Equal pay for equal work

    3. Respect in the workplace

    4. Faithful husbands

    5. More men that can cook

    6. More men that are willing to go to counseling or couples' therapy

    7. More media coverage of intelligent and hard working women as opposed to glorifying women's looks, outfits, etc. In other words, less criticism of their looks and more focus on their inward beauty.

    8. Positive female role models going to schools and giving advice to young girls based on their experiences. They can also have days of question and answer sessions. They can answer any questions the girls have. This should be done once or twice a month.

    9. More female scientists and mathematicians teaching in the schools so that girls are encouraged to go into these fields

Wow, I haven't seen you in a long time! You're a bonus to this section. Yahoo is a better place when you're around. Keep up the good fight...equality is just around the corner.

Educating boys to become men when they grow up, not just boys in bigger bodies. Teach men that life is not a competition with women but a partnership in which two people each bring something special to the relationship which needs to be treasured by the other. And teach girls what to value in men and guess what, in the real world, the bad boys are losers even if they are more exciting. marriage is about consistency with moments of excitement, not about excitement with promises of consistency ... that are never kept.

Have all girls learn martial arts.

In the martial arts, the tests are uniform, regardless of your size, gender, ability to see, etc. Thus a nine year old with a black belt in karate has to break as many boards with her fist as the adult does.

I think the media's bad influence on girl's dieting, fashion, celebrities and fads should be stopped. There has to be better role models for girls and the media is guilty of promoting bad role models.

Stop thinking in terms of "Men" and "Women", and start thinking in terms of HUMAN. If we achive that, sexims and racism would be no more. As long as somebody thinks of men and women, there will exist a difference in the mind, and thus equality cannot be achieved. In other words, as long as you think that you are differnt than a man, you will not be equal to one.If you want a "better place for girls" it would instantly also mean " a worst place for boys" Therefore, start thinking that women and men are the same HUMAN, with the only actual difference being their reproductive system, would make a better place for both women and men. But your question is automatically implying that women need extra "help" in order to live equally.

What is one thing that could make the world a better place for persons? That would be a better question.

For their moms not initiating divorce in 84% of the time and by doing that taking their father out of girls' lives and thus making girls into miserable group up women.
