Could the Women's division in Wcw been utilized better?

The crusierweight/light-heavyweight was successful because of the athleticism like Eddie Guerrero, Rey Misterio jr., Brian Pillman, Jushin "Thunder" Liger, Ultimo Dragon, Dean Malenko, etc. You would always expect a quality match out of the CWs', especially from the luchadores.

Then you look at the Womens' division that you would see rarely. Wcw created a Women's championship in late '96, and believe it or not: A Female Crusierweight division. The potential looked bright, but Wcw failed to capitalized?

So what went wrong with the Division?

It was such a crowded company that they didnt have room to give women's wrestling good emphasis. They had like 200 wrestlers on the roster if not more at the biggest and women werent about to get tv time when there were still lots of guys jockeying for tv time

  • What went wrong was WCW stopped pushing, promoting and showcasing Women Wrestlers. Now that I think of it, WCW could have distinguished WCW Thunder from WCW Monday Nitro, by showcasing some of the top Women Wrestlers and have more Women's Matches than on Nitro. WCW had talent sharing agreements with New Japan Pro Wrestling in Japan and AAA in Mexico and could have pushed and promoted some of the Top Women Wrestlers from Mexico and Japan and showcased them in matches. WCW instead kept pushing the same top male wrestlers: Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, etc.

I think they were focusing more on the Nitro Girls rather thatn the female wrestlers. I'm not complaining.
