Why is modern man attracted to one god as opposed to many?
It seems that thousands of years ago it was backwards. Akhenaten himself was considered a heretic for wanting to worship one god in Ancient Egypt. So now that we have more religious freedom than ever, why is the thought of polytheism so unpopular?

Well if you have 10 Gods and have to go to worship for everyone, just think of the time! One God, one stop. could you imagine every time something went wrong you would need to dig out a book to figure out witch one to ask forgiveness of or to.

Cause it worked since Abraham 2000 Bc till now.
Good nuff for me.
Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
11:9 By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
11:10 For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
It means by faith Abraham trusted God and found HEAVEN.

Polytheism is only unpopular in Europe and America.
You should probably visit China or India where they worship many gods, demi-gods in their temples.
And Chinese and Indians form almost half of the world population.

In the bible as far back as the beginning of humans, they worshiped one God and his name was Jehovah. They had other civilizations around them who worshiped many Gods and Many Lords.
They worshiped idols and trees and the sun and moon and stars.
They worshiped seasons and plants and other persons.
The Jews just worshiped one God and still do.

Honestly? If you look at polytheist pantheons they're just so obviously fanciful. A bunch of gods sitting around arguing with each other and having love affairs with mortals. We're just too jaded for that. It's easier to believe in one vague supreme being with a kind of undefined personality.
