Dreaming or haunting?

Within the last month, I have had a number of bad things happen. I had to put my dog down due to cancer, a serious relationship ended and because I can't afford the place in now that I'm single, I have to move at the end of the month. I'm under severe stress, however, this has never happened to me before...

Last night I was sleeping and someone crawled into bed with me three separate times. I could feel them crawling from the bottom of the bed and spoon me to comfort me. I never turned around to see who it was because I wasn't scared, I was relieved and went right back to sleep. I heard this "person" sigh a few times even, leave the bed and come back. For some reason I feel that this was a female, fairly young, maybe around 25 with a smaller build. If it was indeed a ghost of some sort, there was no harm intended and it doesn't scare me, kind of freaky, but I'm not afraid.

Has anyone had this happen to them? I've even Googled lucid dreaming and nothing fits what happened to me.

Update:

The only person that I have had die that was close to me was about 8 years ago, she was my paternal aunt, like a second mom to me. I know that it wasn't her though, I felt like I would have known. After she passed away she used to talk to me in dreams and leave me pennies on my dresser...she used to collect wheat pennies and we would always count them out with her when we were kids. I always find pennies in unusual places. This wasn't her though.

Update 2:

Oh, and it certainly wasn't a "person".

You have been under a great deal of stress, and it suggests that the stress has brought on a variation of Old Hag syndrome, which is a variation of sleep paralysis that includes hallucinations, often of someone in the room, on the bed, or on the dreamer's chest. When under stress the body and mind may start to waken at different rates, and this causes hallucinations, among other things.

While manifestation of stress as Old Hag syndrome is often scary to the dreamer, I see no reason why it couldn't go in the other direction and bring comfort to the dreamer as well, depending on the dreamer's outlook and attitude. Do the best you can to get to bed at the same time each night and get up at the same time each morning, and perhaps it would help if you do some relaxation exercises

It will probably pass when you feel on a sounder footing. Sorry to hear you have had so much to cope with at once.

That may be, but you should be able to sense if it was a spirit or an actual person. I have never experienced anything like that but I have had things happen with a spirit. So yes, it could be. Have you had anyone close to you pass away? They could be letting you know everything is ok

Hm was your dog a female? Because my mom once had a dream about a dog of ours that we had to give away, and the dog was in human form (like morphed). I know that that might not be related but possibly your dog was coming back as a human to be more comforting or to be able to communicate better.

Whether your nightly visitor is positive or negative, I can't say for certain. You will have to decide that. Personally, though, I only began to deal with the stress and problems in my life once I made Jesus Christ my Savior and Lord. As I began to regularly read the Bible, attend church, connect to Christian media, etc., I began to walk in the "peace that surpasses all understanding." As I began to understand the names of God, I began to pray them over my life. The following are a few examples: Jehovah Shalom or God my peace and Jesus the Prince of Peace.
