Why are union gangstas now sending threats to WI businesses who support Governor Walker? Freedom?

Why don't liberal commie union thugs like FREEDOM?

(Story Updated: Mar 10, 2011 )

That's a nice business you got there. Pity if anything were to happen to it if, say, you didn't toe the line and denounce Governor Walker like we're asking nice-like.

March 10, 2011

Mr. Tom Ellis, President

Marshall & Ilsley Corporation

770 N. Water Street

Milwaukee, WI 53202

SENT VIA FASCIMILE AND REGULAR MAIL

Dear Mr. Ellis:

As you undoubtedly know, Governor Walker recently proposed a “budget

adjustment bill” to eviscerate public employees’ right to collectively bargain in

Wisconsin. ..

As you also know, Scott Walker did not campaign on this issue when he ran for

office. If he had, we are confident that you would not be listed among his largest

contributors. As such, we are contacting you now to request your support.

The undersigned groups would like your company to publicly oppose Governor

Walker’s efforts to virtually eliminate collective bargaining for public employees in

Wisconsin. While we appreciate that you may need some time to consider this

request, we ask for your response by March 17. In the event that you do not

respond to this request by that date, we will assume that you stand with

Governor Walker and against the teachers, nurses, police officers, fire fighters,

and other dedicated public employees who serve our communities.

In the event that you cannot support this effort to save collective bargaining,

please be advised that the undersigned will publicly and formally boycott the

goods and services provided by your company. However, if you join us, we will

do everything in our power to publicly celebrate your partnership in the fight to

preserve the right of public employees to be heard at the bargaining table.

Wisconsin’s public employee unions serve to protect and promote equality and

fairness in the workplace. We hope you will stand with us and publicly share that

ideal.

In the event you would like to discuss this matter further, please contact the

executive Director of the Wisconsin Professional Police Association, Jim Palmer,

at 608.273.3840.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. We look forward to hearing from

you soon.

Barack Obama: Opposition To Democrats Is A Threat To Democracy

    • October 26, 2010

President Obama sent out a fundraising missive today to everyone on his email list. Somehow I didn’t make the cut, but Andrew Malcolm at the LA Times did and found the President’s rhetoric to be a bit over the top:

With Halloween approaching, the Democrat conjures those evil “special interests” again, not the bankers that gave so generously to his 2008 campaign or the British oil company whose lobbyist put up Obama’s chief of staff in a rent-free apartment for years and not the public employee union that’s spending way more millions than any other group in this campaign to fight for more government jobs.

No, Obama presumably means the special interests working for the shadowy, sinister Republicans whose minuscule congressional minorities these last four years have so clearly confounded even the leaderly legislative likes of Harry Reid and even Nancy Pelosi.

“This kind of politics isn’t just a threat to Democrats,” the 44th president of the United States warns a frightened nation about his political opposition. “It’s a threat to our democracy.”

    How’s that for bipartisanship?

Got that? Political dissent is a, uh, “threat to our democracy.”

Maybe the President, who once upon campaigned for his office in part based on the idea that he’s a constitutional scholar, ought to review what the term “democracy” means.

There is no evidence that the letter is a "fraud". That the corporation issued a response to it speaks volumes for it actually existing. Since the letter makes no specific references to the corporation it is far more likely that those who wrote it are releasing this general letter to multiple businesses, going fishing for support. M&I apparently isn't the only one getting these kinds of threats, see sources below.

As for all the "Walker is taking our rights!" hand-wringers, I wonder, what rights do the taxpayers who are footing the ever-increasing bill for your privileges (not rights) have to oppose public unions' excess? If taxpayers decided to abandon their tax-paying duties like these teachers have been abandoning their teaching duties, I'm sure these vocal unions would be supporting their right to free speech all day long, right?

...Yeah, sure. The unions would cheer them being (rightly) led away as tax evaders. So no wonder taxpayers aren't losing any sleep over union thugs having themselves a good cry-in.

  • First I support the Governor

Second boycott and protest is fine that is what freedom is about. BUT I bet if the unions announce a boycott against a particular business the people will support that business even more.

I remember when I worked at one of the teamster locals (I was an outside auditor) someone had thrown a Walmart shopping bag in the trash and one of the bosses found it. There was a three day investigation and searching of every ones personal items to see if the could find out who shopped at Walmart.

The letter is a FRAUD. Although the bank did get the letter, M&I Bank did not and does not donate to any political party. The people reported to have sent it would have known this and would not have said that M&I Bank was listed as a major contributor. It would, therefore, not sent it to a company that is not politically active. They would also know that, to get the desired response, you do not threaten them. z

But I'm sure you wouldn't consider it thuggery if it was a Christian fundamentalist group asking that same business to side with them on the "Pro-life" issue. The "moral" Jerry Falwell used that tactic all the time.

Face it - people have long used economic leverage to make political change.

Maybe you'd rather live in North Korea, where people who use economic persuasion to make changes are routinely executed.

I noticed that this type of propaganda is appearing on all of the Republican pro big business sites. Unless things have drastically changed in this country we can chose to join a union if we want to. Unions mean solidarity and there are power in numbers. People who are anti-union should work for Wal Mart or Burger King. No one is forcing anyone to join a union but individuals should have the choice to join a union as well.

Why are wages so much lower in the South because they have no unions and really bad schools. I would love to live in the South but my pay check would be significantly reduced.

Because intimidation, violence and threats of violence has been a Union tradition since their inception

Because in America (but apparently not Walker's WI) folks have rights.

Thanks for the question. I fully support the unions and if M&I chooses, of their own will, to support Walker, I'll move my CD.

    Their choice - my choice.
