1989 f250 wont start.?

I bought a 1989 f250 earlier today it started and drove fine but now it won't turn over. I did get it to start shorting out the solenoid. what do you believe is wrong?

Update:

The starter is good i know of that.

    THE starter motor is a good place to start,take it off and have it checked,and the solenoid also be sure the solenoid is grounded good,check all ground cables even if they look ok,hope this helps

    could be the ignition switch or the solenoid or even a bad connection/earth.

    in case you are able to scent the gas, you have gotten it flooded. supply it a on the same time as & attempt returned, yet do no longer press the pedal down. I desire I knew in case you checked the alternator. I desire I knew if it somewhat is a gas or a diesel.
