Potential for no 50 goal scorers?

So the season is almost over, and as it looks, Stamkos is the only player that is on pace for 50 goals. Since the lockout, there has never been a season where there were 0 players with 50 or more goals. Stamkos is on pace to score 8 more to end with 51 on the season, but he has been streaky throughout the season and could very possibly score only 6 more in his 13 remaining games.

So questions:

1) How many goals do you think Stamkos will end up with?

and

2) Why do you think there is a chance that the Rocket Richard trophy recipient falls shy of 50 goals? (Obviously had Crosby stayed healthy he would have shattered the 50-goal mark, but injuries happen.)

    1. Stamkos has 43 now... I'm guessing he'll end up with 50. He'll still be streaky, but he'll have a game where he scores twice.

    2. Bad timing on a lot of things. Crosby was injured, Ovechkin's Capitals went through a transition in philosophy, which is tough on everybody for a good part of the season, Kovalchuk's Devils really had no team identity early in the season and he struggled, Stamkos is... Stamkos, and like you said, he's streaky. The Sedins are spreading the puck up more than just between themselves, proven by Ryan Kesler getting a lot of the power play goals. Then you go down to players like Patrick Sharp, Corey Perry, and Bobby Ryan who all play on strong lines where all three of them score a good amount of goals. All of those happened to take place in the same season. I'd say this was a pretty good season for goalies, too.

    1. he will come up short of 50

    2. If crosby wasn't hurt he would've passed 50 goals and if lemaire was the coach of the devils from the start of the season then kovalchuk would've scored atleast 50

    1) it depends more on st. louis than stamkos. stamkos is only the finisher, he can sometimes set up his own goals, but marty is the reason for his huge success

    2) Ovi had a rough season, ever since his suspension from the campbell hit last year he hasnt been the same. He took s**t from people, calling him a dirty player, and I think it got to him. Crosby just decided to have a massive failure and go AWOL on the league, kovalchuk got a** f**ked by NJ, so he didnt get a good chance, and sedin^2 didnt go apesh*t like they have the potential to do

Source(s): bad year for the NHL imo. I dont like how close it is, it makes games too important. And Idk wuts up with players being pansies, but headshots have always been around, they just used to man up and play concussed. what the hell are we paying them millions for?
  • I'm hoping he gets 52 or 53 (breaking his or Lecavalier's record lol), but it's gonna be tough unless he unleashes in the playoffs. That'd be pretty sweet.

    and

I don't think there's a chance that will happen. I dunno it just seems like the norm nowadays.
