Can I sue if my son was threatned at his workplace?

My son works at Market Basket, one of the employees boyfriends went into there and threatened to hurt my son. The employee's boyfriend came in with another boy and they were both african american and my son is about 5 foot 7 inches. When the managers found out, they did not call me, his mother. Can I sue market basket?

Sure, Shane. Sue them for putting the chemicals in your Egg McMuffin that made you the way you are. I am sure they did it. All you need is evidence.

Is this a legitimate question? OMG I hope you are a troll.

If this IS a legitimate question, the answer is a great big resounding NO. You do not have standing to sue because your son's employer didn't call his mommy to tell him that he was having some issues at work. When your son is at work (unlike when he is at school), he is expected to be a big boy and has the right and ability to talk to his mommy when or if he wants. The employer has absolutely no obligation to an employee's mommy or daddy.

  • YOU cannot sue anyone. The company is not legally required to contact YOU ever. This is your son's business, not yours.

I'm not at all sure what inference you want us to draw that the supposed threats came from 'african americans',while your son is 5'7". Are you under the impression african americans can't interact with people of that height??

Sue for what exactly? How old is your son, was it reported to the police, and what is your involvement and why would you have been called into the situation? Just because your son is small does not mean you would be informed, if he is of age, you would not be informed, so again what is your reasoning behind suing?

No. Unpleasantness comes with ANY job. So if your Son doesn't like Where He working, He can always try getting a job somewhere Else .

Sue for what? The fact that they let African Americans in the store? No, sorry. You're misguided and horribly racist if you think that the alternative is in any way legal or acceptable in this country any more.

You can try. You won't get it past a judge, but you can try.

I'd bet your son has a case against you, though, for negligent parenting and willful application of ignorance.

    I'd take that case...

You could definitely get some restraining order or something.

But no way you could sue anyone here.

Why are women always asking if they can sue people on here.

Probably not. There's no cause of action for the worry you experienced over the threats received by your son.

But your son has a cause of action - assault. And his employer should have taken action so you probably have a negligence action too.

Market basket? Never heard of it- are they like Boston Market? My question's more important than your wimpy son so tell me please. Otherwise, i'll have no choice to introduce him to my boot myself.
