How to fix an oven when the stove still works?

My husband and I moved into our house and a couple months later the oven stopped working. The stove top and the display work perfectly but nothing works on the oven part of it. Any suggestions for what could be wrong with it?

Update:

Its an electric stove.

Update 2:

Nothing works on the oven, the light doesn't come on, the safety lock doesn't work, etc.

I replaced a thermal sensor in the oven. It looked kinda like a bolt with a wire out the back. Check with the parts house and have your make and model numbers handy. It's not too difficult to replace, and doesn't cost an arm or leg.

If the broil element will work it's probably just the bake element that has gone bad. The safety lock usually just works when the oven gets hot.

Is it electric or gas? If electric, you might be in need of a new heating element, which should not be difficult to change. You can buy one at any place that does appliance repair. Around here where I live, the heating and cooling shops (the guy who repairs your heat pump) usually does work on appliances as well, and keeps parts in stock.

you may have lost a "hot leg" of the 240V or the heating element is bad.
