What is a good security screen door that is made in the USA?

A big dog will get through most screen doors, if you don't find what you are looking for you may have to improvise with a gate in front of the screen door, or a storm door with just the upper half a screen.

We want to add one of the metal screen doors to our front door. I would like to get some input on the brands you would recommend and any ideas on what features it should have. Love to have the house open but I have a big dog and don't want him going through the screen.

Grisham Security Doors

Hello halestrm! I too work for the Home Depot here in the Chicago area, and we carry Grisham Steel Security Doors. The custom built products are made in the USA.

The Deluxe series comes in 27 different styles. With so many different styles its hard for any home owner not to find a style to fit their home. Five concealable hinges are available in this series. Available as an upgrade is a 2-way bank vault lock in brass only. One of the features in the Deluxe line as an upgrade is self-storing glass which allows for air ventilation when moved from its above position. There are no limitation on dimensions for all 27 styles. Colors are black or white.

The Classic series features 14 different styles. In addition to the 16 gauge welded steel, their frames are 1" x 2" and they have an interchangeable screen panel. There are some limitations on two of their designs. All designs come in double doors. Colors available are black and white.

The Sentry series offers as a standard feature double bore lock box. Twenty-six different styles are offered. This series is designed to accept most 2 3/4" backset locksets. The frames are 1" x 2" with interchangeable screen panel. And they can be keyed to most entry doors. Colors available are black and white.

Hi halestrm, I'm Ken with The Home Depot. Security doors are great to have and offer good protection and are very sturdy. Home Depot offers a brand called SafeHome.

Some of these models can be hung either right hand or left hand. Some models are just right hand or just left. hand. Also SafeHome comes with door locks. A lot of other doors do not include locks.

Most security doors have a rating listed. I have provided a link to show you some styles. Hope this helps.
