Why do you feel the need to tear other people down for their beliefs?

Was America not based on freedom -- religion being one of those freedoms? So if that freedom is truly expressed to us, than why is it so many people who take advantage of it feel the need to make others feel inferior because they do not believe the same things they do. Atheists who feel Christians are stupid and brainwashed, Christians who feel Jews are ignorant for not accepting Jesus, Everyone who feels that Islam is a "radical" religion. Why is it that we cannot all accept that we have the freedom to believe what we want and respect that others are taking advantage of that freedom just as we do.

Update:

The thing that kills me is that one person's rights cannon trump another's. So your freedom of speech cannot impose on my freedom of religion, and vice versa. You don't have to agree with or understand my beliefs, but you do have to respect my right to have them.

I feel no such need. I respect freedom of religion, but I want others to respect my freedom from religion.

But there is a difference between disagreeing with what they say and tearing them down for having said it. If I do feel that someone is stupid and brainwashed, I don't say so.

Because people are ignorant. They think that they are right no matter what others think. They also think it's their job to try and convert people into their way of thinking. Yes America is supposed to be free for anyone whose here. Well if you a citizen, if not then I personally think it's not right for you to get more than a citizen. I respect all religions, beliefs, etc. And if more people would get on board and stop telling others how to life and what to believe we'd probably have a day where there was some peace.

it really is a lot less annoying to be cruel then to have a lifestyles of your own. i'm a Christian, one among Jehovah's Witnesses. it sort of feels that multiple the IDs on Y!A that act truly hateful accomplish that, hoping that by utilising being rude/crude, they're going to humiliate human beings into believing as they do. i imagine many of the others are merely unhappy with their personal lives, and angered with the contentment of those round them. there is yet another appearant reason i have considered for human beings being rude. to attempt to cover their lack of understanding. party, oft at the same time as someone on Y!A asks a question about my faith, regardless of the question, an answerer will merely say, they seem to be a cult. This serves 2 applications. It area steps the question, hiding the topic of, does the answerer even understand the respond to the question. It also looks reported to discourage others from pursuing understanding on the topic.

Until forty years or so ago there was no problem between Christians and atheists!

All the other religions and atheists live in peace and are only attacked by christians and self defense is legitimate!

It takes in reality only one to make a quarrel. It is useless for the sheep to pass resolutions in favour of vegetarianism, while the wolf remains of a different opinion. - William Ralph Inge.

Do you not recognise that Christians are provoking retaliation and repudiation for their terrible attitudes?!

Perhaps if Christians stopped their intolerant, egotistical, hate filled and bigoted postings things might change!

Perhaps if Christians stopped eschewing education, science, evolution works of fiction and much, much more things might change!

Perhaps if Christians stopped being the only religion opposing human rights and persecuting gays, pro choice and so much more things might change!

Perhaps if Christians stopped demanding freedom of religion whilst they deny it to all non Christians and persecute them things might change!

If Christians rediscovered the god of love and forgiveness and put aside all those terrible human emotions things would definitely change!

Why are Christians so afraid of people who simply do not believe in any god?!!!! Surely it can only be because they are so afraid that atheist are right and they are wrong or it would not bother them!

Time for Christians to understand that it is not about god, jesus or belief but about the terrible Christians attitudes and behaviour!

The self destruction of Christianity is underway and the only thing that can stop it is to abandon the terrible human emotions, seek to rediscover the idea of a loving god and act like it!

I believe in the Gospel of Christ and that it is my duty to tell everyone the good news. Muslims believe in Allah and atheists, at least the reasonable atheists who do not just insult peoples' religions, believe that we would be better off not to believe in a being which they do not believe exists. If we accept other peoples beliefs and do not act as if it were a personal insult when people share their beliefs, we can live in peace. At least that would solve the problem of conflict which could be blamed on religion.

If religion was truly personal and something that people kept to themselves then I would have no problem with it. The problem is that people here in the US, mainly Christians, try to get their beliefs passed into law in various forms and then forced onto others. I oppose this manifestation of religious belief, not the individual who doesnt push it on others.

There are some great bumper stickers that sum up religious tolerance. One is "coexist" and uses the religious symbols of the seven major religions. Another is "Faith Freedom For All".

America was also built on freedom of speech witch also involves tearing people down for their beliefs. Also, people have opinions and want them voiced witch also means there are going to be radical people, people who don't care and religious nuts who try and shove their belies down your throat because thats what and outdated book told them to do.

I'm an atheist, but I would fight along side any religious group whose rights to worship were threatened.

That goes both ways, I will also fight any group that attempts to force their religion onto others through legislation.

In a strange way, I'm a supporter of religion.

I don't "feel" christians are stupid and brainwashed---I know it.

And I cannot be president for preferring accepting reality like a man instead of cowering in superstition.

America is a theocracy NOT a democracy!
