It is important that hypertensive patients should reduce salt in their diet. Salami contains salt. Processed meats, such as bacon, sausage, and ham, and canned soups and vegetables are all examples of foods that contain added sodium. Fast foods are generally very high in sodium.
Dietary sodium is measured in milligrams (mg). Table salt is 40% sodium; 1 teaspoon of table salt contains 2,300 mg of sodium.
Healthy adults should limit sodium intake to 2,300 mg per day while individuals with high blood pressure should consume no more than 1,500 mg per day.
If you got high blood cholesterol, it is necessary to reduce animal fat in your diet.
Adopt DASH diet (Mediterranean diet). Eat a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet, which includes cottage cheese, fat-free milk, fish, vegetables, poultry, and egg whites. Use monounsaturated oils such as olive, peanut, and canola oils or polyunsaturated oils such as corn, safflower, soy, sunflower, cottonseed, and soybean oils. Avoid foods with excess fat in them such as meat (especially liver and fatty meat), egg yolks, whole milk, cream, butter, shortening, pastries, cakes, cookies, gravy, peanut butter, chocolate, olives, potato chips, coconut, cheese (other than cottage cheese), coconut oil, palm oil, and fried foods.

You need to see your primary care physician and get on a prescribed antihypertensive drug. It is important that you go this route so he can monitor your blood pressure and the effectiveness of the medication. If your blood pressure is 140/90 or above it is too high. In fact, new guidelines would but it lower than this. If your doctor minimizes a blood pressure that is at this level, seek a new physician. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a very serious health problem. It can cause strokes, enlargement of the heart which eventually leads to congestive heart failure. It can damage your kidneys. There are many more debilitating effects untreated high blood pressure can cause. It is called "the silent killer" because too many people don't know they have it and so don't get treated or they do know it but are noncompliant with a medical regimen.

Salami is a processed meat and it's one of the foods you should avoid if you have high blood pressure. As for garlic, it has been found effective in lowering your blood pressure.

no, it is extremely full of sodium, and you want to stay away from sodium when you have high blood pressure. the sodium outweighs the benefits of the trace amounts of garlic.
