which guitar should i buy?
ok, so i can play a bit of guitar but not very well, and i want to get my self a new guitar and take some lessons. at the moment i have a acoustic guitar with nylon strings, which i hate. and when i get better i want to buy an electric guitar :D so for the next guitar, should i buy an acoustic guitar (with steel strings), or a electro-acoustic guitar?
what are the good and bad points for these guitars, or things that i should consider? thanks !

Really it just depends on your tastes and what you want to play. Ultimately you should want both. Many people will say playing an acoustic with steel strings will build up your hand strength better. This is true. However, if you are mostly going to be playing electric, I see nothing wrong with just jumping right in and getting the electric first. The electric will be easier on your fingers, as well s easier to hold, since it is not so thick. With an electric you can also play around with a tremolo system (whammy bar), effects pedals and more, as well as learning the different sounds from the selector switch and tone knobs, etc.
Then again focusing on those things too much could distract you from the initial phase of just learning to play well. The acoustic will provide less distractions and will not require you to purchase an amp. With the electric you will also want to buy an amp. The good thing about having an amp though is if you want to keep the volume down for others you can plug in headphones.

gibson acoustics are awesome for the spiritual part. I don't know, when i'm feeling down or lonely i always take out my acoustic (its a signature acoustic) and just play some soothing songs like Wish you were here by pink floyd or maybe tomorrow by stereophinics.
I have an LTD AX-50 electric guitar. The sound quality is amazing, but its a bit heavy- good for heavy riffing- pantera / metallica and high pitch solos- children of bodom! \m/.... But maybe someday i'll get a jackson kelly or V... if i can save up more, i'd get a Stratocaster- this is as good as it gets. Good for solos, riffs, tremolo use, all in 1.

if you're a leaner, the best guitar would be an acoustics. i play guitar as well i have acoustics and a les paul. :) Acoustics are simple and they sound great. if you have an amp you can plug in your acoustics.
