JL audio 250/1 v1 amp with (2) 12w1v2-4 Amp settings? Need Help!?

Hey guys, I drive a 97 monte carlo with a JVC head unit (like 129.99 at walmart), stock speakers, 250/1 v1 amp, and two 12w1v2 4 ohm subs with a sealed box.

My settings probably arent the best, so I was wondering what you guys think the optimal settings would be, and for what application (Loud bass, High quality bass, or mix)

The possible amp settings are:

Preamp output Selection Mode- (Full-range, Low Pass, or High Pass)

Amp Lp filter- mode/ slope (off, 12 db, or 24 db), and Filter Frequency (40 to 200 Hz)

Bass Control- Infrasonic filter (off, or 30 hz), and LF boost (0 to 15 Db)

Amplifier Input Section- Input wattage (low, or high) and signal sensing (off, or on)

The manual for the amp is at http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/Slash_amps/250_1_MA...

I looked it over, but honestly I don't know what half of it means. Also, with my setup, what would the "specs" be on it? Would it be 250w to each sub @ 4 ohm? or 125w to each? and how low can it go for ohms?

My head unit has some settings which I should probably tweak, Amp (high power or low power?) Loud on or off, bass level 1-6, bass .5-2 (hz?), and all that other crap. Any info you guys can give would be greatly appreciated, as I want to learn about car audio. Thanks in advance for your answers!

Preamp doesn't matter unless you're running signal cables from the 250/1 to a 2nd amp.

Amp LP should be on 12 or 24 -- either will work. it's personal preference. 12 is standard, but 24 would typically be considered "better". The difference in sound will be pretty slight. Unless you understand a little something about rolloff and what you're listening for you probably wouldn't hear the difference -- I don't know if I would.

I'd probably leave the IS filter off since you have a sealed box.

Boost - very little. I usually keep it at zero.

Input [voltage] - Probably low since your HU signal voltage is probably 2-2.5v. The input sensitivity adjustment is probably the most critical. It should be closer to min (counter-clockwise) than max. My guess is no more than the 9 o'clock range. There are some basic gain setting tutorials throughout the car audio websites. You'd be looking for the "setting gains by ear" method.

Signal sensing will be off if you have a remote wire connected to the amp's remote connection. If you don't have that it uses the rca's for the on/off trigger, so the switch would be set to on.

If you have one sub connected to each of the amp's speaker connections the resulting load on the amp is 2 ohms. That particular amp produces the same power from 1.5 to 4 ohms - 250w. Each sub is seeing 125.

Tough to give you much help on your HU w/o knowing specifically which one you have.

Amp - high power or low power - doesn't really translate to a standard setting.

Loudness is a personal preference. What it does is boost the high frequencies and low frequencies when the HU is at low volume. At higher volumes it has no effect.

Bass setting is personal preference too. Usually somewhere in the middle of the range will work out best. Not sure what the .5 to 2 would be referring to. Bass frequency adjustments would usually be in the 50-200hz range.

That could be a "Q" value for a 1-band equalizer. .5 would effect a narrow band of frequencies, 50-60hz for example (depending on the center frequency). 2 would effect a wider band, maybe something like 40-80hz.
