R&P: What's a favorite song that speaks of "moving on" or "letting go"?

Good afternoon R&P: American chess grandmaster and journalist, Punch here to share my life with you as it happens. A year ago I moved out of a beautiful Hollywood apt, put my stuff in storage and moved to an apt located near skid row in downtown Los Angeles. Looking to be inspired I wanted the "LA" experience.. Boy, I received it, and ended up in Detox/Rehab for five months. I have taken the reigns of my life back, and this week I have been cleaning out that storage, donating things to charity and moving forward with my life

Sleepy Jackson - I'm Moving On

Saying goodbye or grieving is very difficult for me and this led to my problems. In the last four years I lost my Mother, Kathy and Terry, the love of my life, and it's been wrenching just dealing with these losses.

Hey Punch. You have been through quite a lot over the past year. Just a few short years ago I went through a terrible divorce after 15 years of marriage and ended up losing my home, my car, and so much more. Having to start all over again is a painful process and I'm still struggling sometimes. I'm now living 1000 miles away, and tomorrow I'm moving yet again - 10 miles down the road. I really hate it - the packing up and moving process. But I guess it will be a good move. Here's hoping. Today I'm just exhausted!

Skid Row.. I recall doing a case study of that in one of my assessments at uni :( Sometimes life is tough, but hard times show you your strengths and resilience. All the best :)

The Climb by *don't laugh* Miley Cyrus is pretty inspirational

-the title pretty much encapsulates the song

    Walking Away- Craig David

I usually listen to alt/rock, but they're not very focused on moving on, more focused with going nuts or political messages or some crazy **** :L

    Hollow Years - Dream Theater

    Once the stone

    You're crawling under

    Is lifted off your shoulders

    Once the cloud that's raining

    Over your head disappears

    The noise that you'll hear

Is the crashing down of hollow years

*sniff sniff oh sh*t I am getting all tear eyed* just kidding, I heard about what happened Punch that's the best thing for you move forward as soon as possible. a loss is a death and I have had many losses that's why I am an avid reader of the Bardo Thodol. you can apply it not only to death but loss in life as well. take care friend.

Best of luck, Punch. Always a soundboard here, if you need it:

Beyond the title reference, I can't quite explain why this song came to mind (because Michael Stipe is a confusing lyricist) but how about REM's The Great Beyond?

For something more direct, Movin' On, by The Rankin Family:

And the one Corrs song I quite like, No More Cry, written about and dedicated to their mother:
