Use a good shaving cream and a good safety razor. No need to be scared, go slowly and if you feel any resistance, stop and try again. Even if you do cut yourself, safety razor cuts are usually not deep and are painless, so no worries. It is the straight edged razor that you have to worry about.

the best thing to do is use an electric razor i am 34 and i have always used one for that very reason

it depends on which part of your body you are shaving
