Why do people keep using the term mulatto?
This term was created during slavery to label people who were born of a black and white parent. Quadroon was the term used for a person who was 3/4 white 1/4 black. It is a reminder of racism.
It is a derogatory term and should be tossed out of the english language.
edit:Half cracker. White people don't find that word hurtful it is laughable.
I don't think that a word created by slave masters to define some one they still looked down at as being inferior should be casually used today. It is no better than the N word. Why should a person of 2 ethnicities have to label themselves for the satisfaction of racists. It clearly shows the ignorance and low level intelligence of a person who uses it.
Notice I didn't use the term bi-racial either. I don't think that term is correct, considering there really is only one human race. Yet sometimes it is necessary to use certain 'terms' in order to be understood by people of a lower intelligence. Education, or lack there of, is obvious in the choice of words often used by certain 'groups' of people.

I think it is either because they were not raised with morals or they are just ignorant. Ignorance meaning they just do not know any better. I agree it is derogatory and people should stop using it.
