Update:

This involves as many as 12 soldiers, not a lone nut. Hate cannot force someone to commit murder, but it can lower inhibitions to murder. The Nazi murder of the Jews, or the Rwandan genocide (both involving the deaths of "inferior" races) are examples. The tens of thousands perpetrators of those acts of genocide were ordinary people who were convinced that the people they were murdering were less than human.

    Did it ever occur to you that he was a bad seed from the start?

    No one can force you to murder another person simply by putting hateful ideas into your head, you know.

    The responsibility lies on no one but himself and I find it sickening that people are trying to find reasons (i.e.: excuses) for what he did.

    Bad people do bad things. He is a bad person.

    Period.
