For the most part, yes. However, everyone tends to have things with an emotional connection. I have my halo bear and I sleep with her every night. She was with me before my family fell a part continuously and to this day. She keeps me safe now and to me isn't just a "thing". In general, things aren't that important because they can easily be replaced. Society tries to tell you otherwise and it seems materialism in our world keeps on growing.

No I don't. Being human means we can love, hate, and have emotional connections to other things and all that other ****. So to say that something is an insignificant value to a human is taking away what being human is. Logically there are certain things that we as humans need and things that we don't need and are insignificant to us.

I agree.
However, there is a growing number of consumerists who value things above even their own lives. In their eyes people are just things. How can they value the lives of other Humans when they consider themselves to be the sum of their "things"?

No. We are material creatures.
A spiritual value means nothing if not backed up by a material action.
Things are the measure of significance.
