kia optima 2001 auto tranny, rough shift to 1st gear and no uphill power?
hello, my Kia optima 2001 has an auto tranny, the problem is that the car makes rough shifts to 1st gear from a complete stop, it jumbles a little then it recovers and drives normally until a new stop is made, the worst symptom is when i made a complete stop in an uphill, the car just rumbles and revs up but i feel no traction at all even when gas pedal is fully depressed, so i have to reverse downhill...please help

i have a feeling that the issue is either power source related as in the engine is not running how it should be or the torque converter is failing. it is time to take it in to a shop and have them look it over.

precise on the shifter purely below the plastic of the console is an electric switching mechanism. This tell the trans pc what the driving force has chosen. Its basic for human beings to drop conductive stuff down there and screw up the mechanism in a fashion that it does precisely what your reporting. each so often while this occurs the sprint readout that tells you what place the kit selector is in is tousled and the study out the two would not artwork in any respect or is actual .. all goofy.
