Disney World Resorts: Help!?

Which is the best resort and the worst resort, in your opinion, in Disney World, and why?

Update:

By the way, when I say resort I mean hotel. Which Disney World hotels are the best and the worst? Thanks.

I have to do one for each price range (and actually 2 for one of them....), because I'm not sure what you're budget is.

    Deluxe:

Best: Either BoardWalk Inn or Polynesian. both are magically themed and so enticing. One is close to Epcot and Hollywood Studios, the other has views of Magic Kingdom. Boardwalk, in my mind, can also include Beach/Yacht Club Resorts, since they are right there. Regardless of which hotel you choose in the boardwalk area, you will have access to the physical boardwalk. Animal Kingdom Lodge is also great if you have kids who want to see a "savanna" from their hotel balcony

Worst: I guess this can be left to your personal taste. We loved the Contemporary. My grandparents hated its "drab and un-Disney" decor. Other people have love/hate disagreements over Wilderness Lodge, but I've never had the pleasure of staying there. There are good and bad things about every hotel, it just depends on your personal taste.

    Moderate:

Best: I adore Port Orleans French Quarter. It has all the charm of a quaint, cliche New Orleans without the dirtier sides of the city. It is both child- and adult-friendly, and I enjoyed it tremendously last time we stayed there. (We are staying at Caribbean Beach in a couple weeks in a Pirate Room--I think we'll LOVE it!)

Worst: We hated staying in the Alligator Bayou section of Port Orleans Riverside (separate from French Quarter). Before that we had stayed at Riverside and gotten a room in Magnolia Bend, which we liked a lot (not quite as much as French Quarter, though). This time we were very far away from the main part of the hotel, and there was a wasp nest right outside our room that the employees didn't clear up in the five days we were there, despite repeated requests to get rid of it. This might be a really great spot for someone who doesn't mind the isolation and needs a very quiet room location in order to fall asleep!

    Value:

Best: Pop Century was really fun! The larger-than-life theming was magnificent and we had a good time exploring the other sections of the hotel to see their theming and decorations. If your trip isn't for a while, however, I would look into the upcoming Art of Animation Resort--it looks like it will be even better than Pop Century, with theming of Little Mermaid, Cars, and Nemo.

Worst: We've only stayed at All-Star Movies (of the 3 All-Star Resorts). It was loud and crowded with many large groups. Our room was near a main pool, so it never really got quiet. But I guess it just depends where you get assigned to a room!

    Enjoy your trip!

It really does depend on what features you're looking for. Obviously, one of the Deluxe resorts will be nicer than a Value, but that's only if we're not considering price. In my personal opinion, The Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is by far the nicest. Although all Disney staff are nice, I've found that the helpers at the hotel really try to make your stay the best it can be and their helpfulness exceeds expectations. Plus, it's a beautiful hotel. The lobby is always bright and cheerful, the rooms - even standard sizes - are spacious and accommodating, and everything is clean. The cleaning staff is beyond generous when it comes to special requests, such as extra towels or a change of sheets. Character breakfasts/lunches/dinners are easy to schedule and the concierge is always eager to help you plan a meal that fits any criteria or food restrictions you may have. I have stayed at The Grand Floridian five times out of my eight visits to Disney World and it really is the icing on top of a fantastic cake. It's so kid-friendly, as is the rest of Disney, without being overly noisy or dirty. The spa treatments are also easy to personalize/access, and the fees aren't insane. I thoroughly believe that this resort at Disney is by far the best for anybody, kids or no kids, with the Polynesian in a close second.

As for the worst resort, I only stayed at the Pop Culture resort once, and I switched to the Polynesian after two nights. Besides the staff being as rude as Disney people can get, it's almost impossible to book any sort of meal without being bombarded by other families trying to get in the way, as the resort is relatively under-staffed. The rooms weren't dirty, but they weren't clean - the television didn't work and when we tried to get somebody to fix it, they bailed and we were still charged. I rarely have anything bad to say about Disney, but this resort definitely tops my list. Even though it may seem like a big money-saver, being a Value resort, I'd recommend you fork over the money and stay at The Grand Floridian for a much higher quality experience.

It really depends on what you are looking for. I love the Beach Club. It has a great location, the pool rocks and the Deluxe resorts are just awesome.

If you are looking in the Magic Kingdom area, I like the Polynesian.

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is really nice too, but it is a bit far from everything.

I really don't like Port Orleans Riverside. The rooms are just dingy and smelly. I am not a fan.

Well, it depends on who is going and what sort of trip it is.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money and plan on being in the parks a lot: Pop Century

If you like to spend a good bit of time at your resort and plan on spending more time at Epcot or Disney Studios: Beach Club

If you have very small ones who love the Magic Kingdom and are still in a stroller: Polynesian

If you want a moderate room: Coronado Springs (queen size beds)

If you LOVE animals: Animal Kingdom Lodge, savanna view

    Romantic vacation: Grand Floridian

Our overall favorite, a little bit of everything: Wilderness Lodge (a little less expensive, absolutely beautiful, convenient transportation, great restaurants)

    best-dolphin hotel

    worst-all star music

i liked the dolphin because the lake view i had from my room was just beautiful, i liked taking the boats to hollywood studios and epcot too. The hotel also wasn't so crowded so it was very peaceful and the buses going to my resort didnt look like twinkies stuffed with too much cream.

I like all disney resorts, i guess my least favorite is all star music.

I really like the Polynesian because of the themeing and because of the monorail. My least favorite is the value resorts just because they are so basic, particularly the Sports one because I am not into sports very much.

If your going to Disney World in Orland Florida, I suggest not going to Disney World and going to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, the new Harry Potter World is amazing, and the rides are always fun

depends on what you're looking for and who's going -- there is a difference price point as well.
