I want to vote for McCain, but will he really fix the economy? Will he lower gas prices?

His website doesn't give enough detail... Obama's does! But I don't like Obama. But for the sake of my future I need a good economy.

McCain really was a maverick when he ran in 2000. The party leaders didn't want a maverick, they wanted someone who would take orders, who would read whatever they put in front of him. They had already chosen GW Bush and lined up all the money behind him. The GOP primaries were supposed to be only a rubber stamp--the party leaders had already picked the candidate. So when McCain won the first big primary, in New Hampshire, the party decided to destroy his candidacy in the next big primary state, South Carolina, with a vicious smear campaign.

McCain went off to lick his wounds and then decided he should be a Team Player. So he came back to endorse Bush. And for 8 years he was a big Bush Booster. For 8 years he never criticized anything Bush did.

So when McCain ran for president in 2008, when he managed somehow to come from last place to snag the nomination, he wasn't able (or allowed) to distance himself from Bush. He wasn't able even to admit that Bush had made some 'honest' mistakes, and tell us how he'd do anything different. This is one of the main reasons he lost so big.

McCain is not going to do anything to fix the economy that Obama hasn't done. He is committed to the Republican Agenda, which is to concentrate wealth. Gazillionaires have done just fine in this recession. We all have to deal with 'austerity' measures so Fortune 500 CEOs and execs can keep their multi-million-dollar bonuses for deliberately running their companies into the ground. High unemployment doesn't hurt them, it just keeps wages down so they can make more money. And of course all the Republican tax cuts go overwhelmingly disproportionately to the top 1% or so.

Personally I'm not anti-capitalistic, but if by -capitalism- we mean a system whereby 95% of Americans must accept a slow, steady decline in their standard of living so that 0.1% can double their wealth and their share of ownership every 8-10 years, then I think we're just doing it wrong. This is the agenda that McCain is committed to.

MCCain will get lower gas prices when the sun rises out of the west. There does not seem to have been any president or member of congress that have gotten big oil to show restraint in what they charge the public.

I hope you don't get the chance for vote for McCain. We need a much stronger candidate on the republican ticket than McCain who will also hopefully be a lot more conservative than McCain.

    McCain isn't running for President.

Why are we suddenly seeing all these questions from people who think McCain is running?
